So what are the repubs ideas for fixing the issues?

Blow it up and start over?

People love ACA because crappy health insurance > no health insurance. The people who supported ACA were the people who did not have health insurance, by and large.

The VA will come out and say that yes this is terrible and we need more money to fix it. They will say, yes, this is terrible, but if we did not have VA clinics, then, these people would not get any health care at all, and slow health care > no health care.

That will be the same argument used when ACA fails, and they start really pitching single payer. It will be because the ACA insurance is worthless. So the argument will be... government health care > no health care.

All of the GOP arguments to date have been around blowing up ACA and making changes to insurance. Problem is, health insurance IS the flaw. Expanding a crappy product to more people (either via the ACA or via GOP alternatives) is not going to fix the problem.

The solution is easy: a single payer system with a competent administration and system. Problem is, there is no way the US government can have a competent administration and system.

Becasue the VA is awful, let's assume that all government-sponsored healthcare will be awful

Add in the military installation health clinics/hospitals, and the Government's track record is pretty obvious. Here's a clue if you haven't figured it out...

This.

And it will greatly benefit about 1% of the population.
And that 1% will get 100% of airtime from the media.
And the politicians will be in the foreground waving, smiling, and kissing babies, and saying, "See, it works!"
And the sheople will swallow the propaganda and defend government for its unprecedented benevolence.
And 99% of the Obamacare Fund will go to major corporations as grants to fund the study on why the Tsetse fly gets sleepy after 3 p.m.

This is how government works.
This is how government has ALWAYS worked.
This is how government will always work because the sheople will accept the propaganda they see on TV.

Patience grasshopper. They will appear. They usually do when the left begins to run scared.

My 5/13 post on another thread, same topic:

"The VA is actually pretty efficient in medical care delivery. Efficient overall, and especially where I am located. I'm fortunate to be near the U of I H&C, where interns work at the VA.

Having said that, it does appear some locations aren't so fortunate.

It also needs to be said the system is understaffed, anecdotal evidence only, because of the influx of returning veterans from the latest Middle East engagements.

I never used the VA for years. My understanding is that this is pretty common among returning combat veterans who don't want much to do with anything military and in my case military and government. For whatever reason, the separation from combat is better now, and the influx of returning recent combat veterans I witness is certainly taxing the system.

My comment here in no way defend what has recently transpired. My visceral hatred of government employees (especially those to the left, with a sense of entitlement) is well documented on here and in the money thread.

Veterans, and especially combat veterans are heroes. I'm not talking about me either. 20 years after Desert Storm, when I reflect, I understand what these young men and women are doing, and also the sacrifices of their families. The actions of these people, if that's what you want to call them, should be rewarded with prison time. It won't happen. They always protect each other.

They = Enlightened, sense of entitlement, elitist, government, us -v- them mentality people."

Proof that those that play them are simple to predict when they have no worthwhile counterpoint.
