The Trump wiretap denials are all a matter of semantics.

On GMA this morning, they quoted several people in the IC and Congress who denied the wiretaps.
One said there were no "physical wiretaps" on the Trump organization. Get that? No "physical wiretaps".
The Intel community doesn't need "physical wiretaps" to listen to your phone conversations or view emails or text messages. It's all done by other means besides wiretapping. It's done on everyone. It's just a matter of going into their database and retrieving the data.
When I hear someone of authority in the IC say outright that "there was no gathering, retrieving, and reviewing of any communications from Trump or his organization", then I might be inclined to believe them. Until then, I'm withholding my judgement on the matter.
It's semantics people. Listen very carefully to their "denials". Always a vague statement.

That has seemed obvious, in fact, true "wiretapping" is probably an obsolete technique given current technology.

Of course, BH. Like OJ trying on that blood-soaked SHRUNKEN glove...and it not fitting. Theater...for those who want to be fooled.
It's the kind of bs that honest and patriotic Americans are sick of; and exactly why we elected the rogue Trump.

Amen

I wouldn't believe them. I'm expecting a lot of "I am not aware" today.
Snowden/Wikilinks has quite a few examples of governments using foreign allies to spy on each other's citizens.
It was dumb for the WH to come out and publicly accuse an ally of doing it even though we have leaked documents showing it's been done in the past.

It's been funny to watch the GCHQ debacle over the last week as a Trump hater.
But I'll just add my 2 cents again, what Nap proposed, to me, is not only totally feasible but given the history here I kind of have a hard time not believing it to be true. Extraordinary rendition, gitmo, extra-judicial drone strikes etc etc.
Kind of disappointed in the left in this country right now. Yes, maybe Trump has some loans that we should question, maybe he's paling around with oligarchs, maybe he's putin's bitch and putin massively influenced the election. But ffs, if black people ever wanted a reason to say white liberals don't give a shite about them, 11/8 saw unprecedented levels of voter rights infringements, as well as the targeted closing of DMVs/polling places, gerrymandering etc. That shite is real, it's right there, and it needs to be fought against.
We've become everything we despised about the worst factions of the right over the last 8 years. A total breakdown of focus on the groups who we can actually work with, to chase some bizarre conspiracy and hanging everything on the hope of an incredibly unlikely impeachment which would only bring the VP into office anyway.
If the CIA or FBI cough up a winning lottery ticket, something so vile or concerning about Trump that 20 GOP senators or more feel compelled to find him guilty in an impeachment then great, but even so that's a years long process and Trump is a stubborn SOB. It's not something that in March 2017 anyone should view as a long term strategy.
This wiretap stuff, Russia, golden showers, billion dollar IOUs to the foreign governments, none of that shite wins back any statehouses by itself. We're lucky the GOP have had the gun pointed directly at their feet for the last 8 weeks and have produced a plague of a healthcare bill, because if this admin were even vaguely competent the dem party would probably be having to prepare for post 2018 constitutional amendments.

Remember, the periodical of record can use wiretapping as a euphemism for surveillance, but when trump does, he's a lying piece of shite.

If they weren't "tapping" Manafort, something was going wrong. And Manafort was leasing space at Trump Tower for years before all this.

"The information we were given."
"To the best of our knowledge."
"There were no physical wiretaps."
"Not that I'm aware of."
All bullshite lawyer-speak.

It means all these declarations below are saying nothing more than that the picture below isn't a picture of Barack Obama.
