Well nobody has argued that race isn't a factor.

I 100% agree that a poor black area is more dangerous than a poor white area, and both are more dangerous than a wealthy black area, which isn't as safe as a wealthy white area. Race and poverty both play a role, which is why I'm confused by the point of your OP.

Correct, but many seem to think it's not the the most important factor, which it clearly is.

But given that most people don't commit violent crimes, it's still a small subset and the factors are conditional on that subset.

In fact, sex may be the most important factor overall.

Are there any wealthy black areas?

Well if poverty rates have remained relatively stagnant over the last 50 years, how would we explain rising rates of violent crime.

The fact is that murder is up because single parenthood rates are up. In 1940, marriage rates among blacks exceeded rates among whites. And divorce rates among blacks were lower than whites'.

But it does not fit the liberal narrative to underscore the destruction of the nuclear family in urban areas. It's much more effective to blame America/whites/republicans/the south/wealthy people.

It says a lot about this board that this post has 10 up votes and zero down votes when the first sentence is undeniably false. As long as a response fits the narrative, very few will check the facts and/or call it out.

Where they're a majority? No, I wouldn't imagine so.

There appear to be some but of course they tend to be in the wealthiest areas of the country as well. LINK

Yeah I guess it's all relative. Prince George's County, MD has the highest median family income of any predominantly black county in the country, but it is also the lowest median family income of any of the surrounding counties in Maryland.

Murders reached a peak in the early 90s and have been slowly dropping since then.

I know lots of poor people that are not criminals and don't have a violent murderous bone in their body.

BS

I suspect gender, race, ability to control impulses and intelligence have a much higher correlation to violent crime than poverty. Correlation does not prove causation.

the homicide rate in the US was 5.0 in 2012

it was 9.8 in 1991

homicides from the mid 60s to the mid 90s were basically double what they are now

but that's obviously just 1 stat and not all violent crimes as a whole.
