I wonder if Ted Kaczynski was a fan

That’s the most idiotic take I’ve ever heard. What a stupid comparison.

Wow.

You just openly revealed your whole mindset with that quote.

Of course, it’s not like we didn’t already know.

Damnit, I've been meaning to read the Gulag Archipelago but instead I forgot about it and started Five Rings.

You made a wise choice!
I read an abridged version of G.A. - about half the unabridged length - and it was excruciating. I only made it about half way through, and I am a patient reader.

The book is not meant to be a philosophical treatise or an interesting read. It is meant to be an overwhelming catalogue of Soviet atrocities, and it is!

Doing some genealogical research recently and a wonderful example of this would be the battle of King Mountain during the Revolutionary War.

The British threat:

“If you do not desist your opposition to the British Arms, I shall march this army over the mountains, hang your leaders, and lay waste your country with fire and sword.”

The Overmountain men and their reply was the beginning of the end to the British campaign in South. The war ended a year later.

"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. The moment the Men who wanted to be left alone are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be. Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these Men who wanted to be left alone, fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror. TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy... but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone."

Is this even a real quote from anyone?

Every source I've found says author unknown. Was not able to attribute it to Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn.

That’s how I would start the 2nd civil war, by first taking out every media outlet that was part of the MSM!!

This statement is the absolute truth, but then we'll hear cries from the Democrats and their Soros-funded media allies saying "See! We told you they were violent!!!"

I don't know if you get it. Power and communications are the first to go. Right along with scheduled food delivery to your local grocery.

Absolute truth in what Solzhenitsyn says. Amongst my circle of friends whenever the discussion of current events comes up and how the left is hell bent on destroying this country the topic of civil war usually comes up. I've always said that when we reach the point where they take away the ability of the common man to provide for his family and live in peace is when we'll see a rebellion because the common man like so many people we all know will no longer have anything to lose. Solzhenitsyn's description is much better than mine.

You’re spot on. I’m from the LC area. Would be nice to gather some like minded people in the area to discuss things like this in person rather than on the internet

I have no idea who this person is, but what a great quote. It’s truth is pretty evident, it you have read the posts of several right here on the PT board. If they make us fight, we aren’t going to be fair, or even decent.

Is required reading in schools in Russia I am told.

Should be here.

What a book. I'm on a second read through. It's on my nightstand now. Worming on another book series.

It's incredible and frightening at the same time.

Horror movies and shite I don't watch and think they are stupid.

Books like this of what really happened like The Gulag Archipelago and The Killing Fields are absolutely scary.

That shite keeps me up at night while I'm reading through them.
