Who has been following the dismissal of Parish Attoreny Mary Roper and the subsequent shite show?

Apparently she is now accused of hacking into the city-parish email server.

Does anyone have any insight or inside info on this whole situation?

A vile POS who should have been fired a long time ago. If it's possible, she gives attorneys an even worse reputation than they already enjoy.

She seems to be taking this rather personally and I don't know enough about the situation to say if those feelings are warranted.

That being said, she doesn't seem very professional and is not playing the court of public opinion very well.

Authorities obtained the search warrant after two Parish Attorney’s Office employees accused Roper of hacking into their computers in September, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, the Baton Rouge police spokesman.

As an IT professional I would be very interested in seeing their evidence for her "hacking". If those people gave her their UN/pw's, that's not really "hacking", it's those employees being dumbasses.

Warrant: Someone from Parish Attorney Mary Roper’s home hacked into parish email 17 times after she was fired

Was her account disabled after she was fired? If not, that's not "hacking" and someone in the IT department (or HR, depending on how their work flow goes for hirings/firings) needs to be blamed.

I don't have a dog in this hunt, I just hate seeing the word "hacking" thrown around so loosely.

Her husband is an IT professional and was in the center of the events that led to her dismissal so it's possible that access was gained by less than legal means.

If their IT staff did even the minimal network security work, he would have a tough time doing what they are calling "hacking" and if he did truly hack into their network, he wouldn't be doing so just to get emails. He would be either deleting entire servers worth of info (forget that this should be backed up nightly) and/or just copying certain sensitive information that could be used as leverage to call of the law dogs.

Something about this "hacking" thing just isn't passing the smell test for me.

Could be and like I previously stated, I'm not very familiar with the whole situation. The recent Advocate articles have gotten my attention so I was just curious if anyone has some insight.

I agree that they are probably using the "hacking" word in a very liberal manner.

First an ex police chief and now an ex city attorney being caught up in a police investigation which seems more political than criminal.

WTF is the administration doing?

What was her role? The Advocate said she was a Parish Attorney.

That's right. She was the EBR Parish Attorney. She was appointed by and served at the pleasure of the EBR City Parish Council.

Doubleb always wants to blame everything negative that happens on the Holden administrartion, like he did in his post above, even when Holden had nothing to do with the situation.

These days, to nitwits, everything is hacking. My SIL thinks its hacking if she leaves her phone unlocked with her Facebook open and someone, not saying who, writes evil things on her page. People are just stupid and need to make everything sound more dire.
