How is it different than the many boondoggles in the 30s done through the WPA that supposedly got us through the recession by increasing employment?

And before you attack me for diminishing the importance of the WPA, it did many good projects but many were pointless and meant only to provide employment.

Why would leftists oppose a modern day stimulus project?

Actually you're wrong. Stealing money from Mexico's economy will stimulate American's econony. Keynesianism would imply stealing from the American economy

How could we need stimulus when the free market conquers all?

Fine. Let the illegal immigrants continue to come in and leave it the way it's been for years. Just make it a free open border. Why not?

Totally agree. This wall would fall under the "good projects" heading imo.

If that's what you want to think it's like, that's your opinion. I do not agree. It is a defense mechanism that will have a short-term impact on employment, not an employment contract that will have a short-term impact on defense. But again, you can think it different.

None of those served to tighten the labor market, thereby increasing the price at which workers will be able to sell their labor to employers. As automation takes away more jobs, this will become increasingly more important.

Also, Mexicans. Also, Mexican meth.

Those projects had nothing to do with national security or local public safety.....Oh!...and they weren't protecting criminals.

Because it is a matter of national security which is actually one of the more important mandates of the federal government as defined in the Constitution.

What's more Keynesian, paying for a border wall or paying for the people a border wall is designed to keep out? Currently it's one or the other.

What is your opinion on the effectiveness of keynsian stimulus? especially as our economy reaches full employment?

And if mexico pays for this, it wouldn't be true keynsian stimulus.

My issue with the wall is I don't think its going to work.

I would rather people earn their welfare than it be given to them. The liberal in me is ok with work projects. This one will at least have a function.

You're basically selling this to the libs as a project they should support, yet you have 20 downvotes.

Who is downvoting? Libs or Cons?
