Texas has one scheduled for February 2015 where the murder took place in October 1984 and the conviction shortly thereafter (yes, that's 31 YEARS AGO).
As a perspective that was my sophomore year in college (and I was in the midst of changing majors).

I have worked with the Capital Defense Fund, Capital Defense Resource Center and have evaluated mitigating circumstances many DP cases. You are obviously quite young and relatively inexperienced so I'll overlook some of this polyanish stuff.
While I am not a huge fan of the DP, to claim that we are somehow on the wrong side of history or civilization because the US has the DP is foolishness. Frankly, there are some individuals that are so disturbed (call it evil, unfeeling, mean, etc.) that the DP is what is best. Sit across from a few of these guys and talk to them before you claim to know what is best.
