n order for Tesla to be successful, they need high-voltage, high-amperage stations to be widely available for public use. We don't have that right now. You can use a standard 110V outlet to charge a Tesla, but you'd need to do it overnight.
Most businesses have high-amp service. That isn't what limits the charge time. Battery heat and cycle limits that cap the charge time in most cases.

Ok. So I was being a bit snarky. But it seems like an obviously poor conclusion.

The idea that "infrastructure" is what's limiting Tesla's development is... well... and excuse. There is FAR more and better infrastructure for electric service than CNG. Yet... there are more CNG cars in use.

The technology limit isn't in "infrastructure". The tech limit is in energy density. And until Tesla or someone else can come up with a way to store, transport, and deliver energy at higher densities than carbon-hydrogen bond, electric cars will suffer.

I'm guessing if that happens... they won't be giving that patent away...

But it seems pretty obvious to me that no matter what comes out of electric car technology, infrastructure upgrades are needed
240V/80A service isn't exactly rare, nor an "upgrade" from what most places have. Typical residential homes are 240V/200A service.
