Alaska, Hawaii and Texas (most of it) are the only states with their own grids.
So yeah, you good. Even if the entire eastern interconnect went out, there would be large areas that could island themselves and come back fairly quickly leaving the damaged area bypassed.

Yep, the south wouldn't be a good place to be brown if the shite hits the fan.

If they ever invade the US mainland, ISIS or whoever will discover the hard way that the rules of engagement do not apply on American soil. Our at least not in the South.

In 1998 there was report of a plan to hijack planes and attack the U.S. Like that could ever happen!

Ours is local, not connected to any other town. Three hydro projects and it would be fairly easy to reconstruct if something did happen. We've also got diesel and biomass backup.

I feel like ISIS will attack the US, but I don't think this is how they'll do it. Too many regions have self sustaining power supplies.
They'll do what they do best. Blow shite up.

Since an EMP attack has been a theoretical possibility for decades, I would like to think we've come up with some kind of response plan by now.
But that would mean trusting the feds to get something right.

Does FERC conduct compliance reviews themselves, or do they contract with independent audit firms?
