Stop-and-frisk is down 90%+ in NYC

...and yet crime continues to trend down in 2014.
What can we take away from this? I would submit that stop-and-frisk was nothing more than a thinly-veiled attempt to sweep black New Yorkers into the system for easy tracking.

You don't aggressively and proactively look for crime, you are going to find less of it? Makes sense to me.
Regardless, I was always opposed to stop and frisk.

Also, 33% of NYC is white. 54% of the NYPD is white. It's disproportionately white.
I'm not making any judgments based on this. Generally speaking I like the NYPD.

Blacks and latinos were something like 90% of all stops, yet they add up to only 51% of the NYPD. Even in mostly white neighborhoods, blacks still were like 75% of all stops.
Why is it so hard to admit that the program was possibly racist?

"Paring" it back? It's been effectively eliminated. And yes, if it was supposedly effective at preventing crime, I would have expected an immediate rebound in that crime...and certainly not a decline.
Ray Kelly predicted that "no question" violent crime would go up.

Lol and how do they measure crime statistics? Perhaps there are less arrests because they aren't stopping the criminals, stupid statistics are stupid.

Weak weak sauce. Let's go with murder. Murder is low and trending ever lower. With 2 weeks to go, it's 7% lower than last year.
All violent crime is down year-over-year. If you have a problem with the methodology, then please submit it in writing. Just saying "the statistics are off" because you don't like what they say is craven and ridiculous.

Crime was trending down (especially murder) even before stop & frisk was initiated in 2002, but its supporters tried to take credit for the drop in murders.
There were 2600 murders in NYC in 1990. By the end of the decade (1999) & even before stop & frisk (2001) it had dropped to 900 murders & crime was trending downwards,
Disgusting how some actually credited such a steep fall to stop & frisk .
