I heard on the radio today that his wife wants to sell, but he wants to fight it?

The team is worth what the market will pay for it. Come on, that 's Econ 101. I don't expect a dipshit chip salesman to know that, but I know you do.

I'd also be interested in your thoughts on the Forbes article posted.

Why laugh at silver and lebron - it's a great outcome for them. Increases perceived value of the league and provides lebron with more leverage in his next contract negotiation. Damn, with your economic sense you will fit in well at your govt job!

Another interesting factoid:

The Madison Square Garden Company has a market cap of $4.1 billion. Forbes values the Knicks at $1.4 billion and the Rangers at $850 million. That adds up to $2.25 billion valuation between the two.

They also own:
Madison Square Garden
Radio City Music Hall
Beacon Theatre
Chicago Theatre
The Great Western Forum
New York Liberty
Hartford Wolf Pack

Are the rest of MSG's portfolio worth $2 billion? Maybe, maybe not. If not, then Forbes has undervalued the Knicks/Rangers to be on the safe side.

This will fly over many "I make $130,000 a year so I understand real money" heads. Again and again.

He turned this around you libs. He is laughing all the way to the bank.

You all thought Oprah or some POS rapper would get the team for a song. All you got was another rich White man as an NBA owner.

You really are an idiot..this didn't change any other franchise valuation, or leFlops.

Sterlings team of attorneys just showed how the game is really played...He wins money, you win an attaboy. Lol

The real question to ask is whether or not Sterling would be able to fetch $2 billion if he were to sell his team (without being forced to)? I think he still would be able to do so. I'm not sure how he being forced to sell the team affects demand.

Well, for one I don't sell chips, but it probably pays more than a flat-billed loser like you who is on here 24/7 will ever make.

You just want Sterling to lose. HE DO NOT! He is even richer.

You're a fricking loser like your idol.

Most haven't been around long enough to remember something a great poster once wrote to you on the rant. It was "Justme" and he humbly requested that you, "for the love of God, don't ever stop posting." I wouldn't go that far, but I'm getting there.

The team was valued at 700 million. No way he ever gets 2 billion.

The fricking Yankees aren't valued at 2 billion.

So did being forced to sell his team affect demand? That doesn't make any sense.

Perceived value...plays into tv negotiations and player contracts.

It's hilarious that the two dudes living off gov largesse are arguing with people over pvt sector economics and incents.

Dude, I just left a gallery show...bought a wonderful piece...and on the way back my hedge fund brother called laughing. That's how I found out.

Nobody with any economic sense thinks the team is worth two billion.

Nobody.

That was the cost to make him go away because he was gonna burn the NBA to the ground in litigation.

He fricking won, by just pointing the gun.
