You cannot harm the NBA brand,

he had help with turning in his private conversation.
Barkley is racist on air for goodness sake.

,which he did not.

And you cannot create a hostile work environment, which he did.

He treated all parties including employees with respect. The hostile environment was created by others not him.

Huh? A former head coach had filed a lawsuit based on racism. Sterling's racist comments proved him to be racist. And his comments following the initial story only re-affirmed that he was hurting the brand.

So where are all the dumb fricks up in here that were whacking off to the "fact" that their racist proxy-hero was going to jam a hard one into the libz? I thought this was a sure thing that Sterling was going to put this thing to bed or make life a living hell for all the PC pansies?

Hey dickhead, did you forget that he has hired multiple private investigator's to uncover dirt on every single owner in the league? This is not over and he still has the opportunity to burn this awful league to the ground if he really wants to push it.

None of those are given as reasons for terminating an NBA owner's ownership in their contract.

Hypothetical situation. A chick-fil-a franchisee allows gay marriages in the chick-fil-a. Chick-fil-a corporate says you violated the rules of your franchise, and we are pulling your franchise.

Would supporters of sterling support the franchisee in this scenario? or chick-fil-a corporate?

Elgin Baylor, who was executive vice president and general manager of the Clippers from 1986 to 2008, filed a lawsuit alleging wrongful termination against Sterling in 2009, saying that the team's owner underpaid him and treated him "as a token because of his race."
Baylor, who is African-American and an 11-time NBA All-Star, said Sterling wouldn't let him negotiate players' salaries and had a vision of a "Southern Plantation type structure" for the team.
Sterling, according to Baylor's complaint, told Baylor repeatedly that he "wanted the CLIPPERS team to be composed of 'Poor Black boys from the South' and a White head coach."
The lawsuit also accuses Sterling of ageism and alleges that Sterling harassed him by making demeaning comments about his age.
Sterling denied those accusations and said the team acted within its rights and "for good cause and not for any improper reason."
Before the case went to trial, Baylor dropped the racial discrimination claim but maintained accusations of age discrimination. A jury sided with Sterling in 2011

Bigots gonna bigot and I am not referring to Sterling.

WTF does this have to do with anything?

He is not an owner or player. He is employed by a network. WTF is the NBA going to do to him for being vocal?

Tell the network not to let him broadcast his racism. Really?

He is a Hall of Fame player is he not? Other folks have been fired, belittled, chastened and otherwise dismantled their lives and you ask how is he related to the NBA?

Bigotry is not a One Way street. If you can acknowledge that fact it would be cool.

A representative of what?

Can you quote some examples of Barkley's on air racism?

Hall of Famer and current NBA analyst Charles Barkley admitted Thursday to using racial slurs with his friends.

Commenting on Los Angeles Clippers’ Matt Barnes using the “N” word on Twitter and the Miami Dolphins bullying investigation on TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” Barkley stated he will continue to use the racial slur around his friends and that white people should not dictate how he talks.

I know you are going to say this is not racist. That is part the problem is, some person dictating what some person says.

Actually I wasn't. Can you tell where he harmed the NBA or TNT brand? Which sponsors were lost?

Can the judge basically override future appeals?

No--but when they make a ruling, they typically decide whether to put that ruling on hold or let it take effect immediately. There can be a lot of different factors in which of those they choose.

If the trust owns the team and he is no longer a trustee, the current trustees can absolutely sell. Assuming the trust gives the trustee that power. I haven't read the ruling, but I am guessing the suit was over sterling being removed as trustee. He can ask for a stay pending appeal, but it appears that isn't going to happen. If the team is sold and the beneficiaries of the trust feel it wa a breach of the trustees duties. The remedy is against the trustees.

Burn to the ground? No.

But $2B can dig up a lot of embarrassing dirt if he wants to go into all-out troll mode. I wouldn't be shocked if there's at least one owner worse than Stirling.
