Good letter. No mention of equality, race, other BS.

Sorry Mr. Rooney but not taking the field during the national anthem was exactly what you said it wasn't - a political statement. I'm amazed you can't fathom that thought.

Nope. Kneeling is the problem. Standing is not. This prevented kneeling.

I noticed the letter failed to clarify what his dumbass head coach's intentions were with respect to his comments around this issue. It referenced the fact that the players never intended to show disrespect toward Villanueva but excluded coaches. Hmm.

All the NFL feeling it. Going to continue feeling it. I didn't watch last night and don't feel deprived this morning for having missed it.

I believe this was their genuine intent, but at what point did they think sitting out the National Anthem would not be a complete disrespect of it?

And y'all are still melting about it.

That's the gift that keeps on giving the whole year.

But for all the controversy, they would have been standing out on the field for the anthem. They changed their normal practice in deference to the current controversy. That’s not exactly business as usual. Sounds like they want it both ways.

They didn't even come out for the anthem. Kneeling or standing has nothing to do with it. They could have come out in wheelchairs for all I care. If standing reverently for the NA is part of the NFL game day mantra, then the Steelers failed miserably.

That is a political statement, I don't care how you spin it.

I like the Clay Travis idea. Just play the anthem before the players come out of the locker room. Problem solved.

It wasn't very well thought out for sure. He should also have apologized for forcing a vet with 3 tours to apologize for honoring his flag.

No one is denying they have a right to do it. They get to make that business decision and suffer the consequences. Nice attempt at a straw man though.

Is this one of those post of "I don't have anything intelligent to add so as not to make myself appear stupid, I will attempt to make the other guy look stupid"?

Well, you failed.

To avoid the anthem on purpose, is to politicize it...it is divisive

The point, you missed it
