You ALWAYS have a choice, as in choosing right over wrong. Unless, of course, you're afraid of losing your cushy over-privileged position. Give that guy a pussy hat!

Yea, ok, when you don't have a logical argument to put forth you resort to name-calling. How totally expected!

I think he's basically saying "don't blame me," which actually seems fair in this case

So Tomlin allowed Villanueva to make his own choice but Foster wasn't? Seems pretty racist of Tomlin

Please tell me all about how Steelers starting left tackle Villanueva got benched on Sunday after crossing the coach.

Villanueva said he regretted his choice, though. He said he threw his team under the bus (which is true).

quote:

"Unfortunately I threw my teammates under the bus, unintentionally," Villanueva said at a press conference Monday. "Every single time I see that picture of me standing by myself I feel embarrassed.

"I made my teammates look bad, and that is my fault, and my fault only," Villanueva said. "We as a team tried to figure it out, but obviously butchered it."

A forced apology if there ever was one. Sad that we're at a point where a three tour vet is forced to apologize for saluting the flag and country that he personally defended.

Some of the comments. Wow!

WOW, absolutely no accountability. YOU and YOU alone brought this on to yourself and you apparently made a decision based on bad information. “Pigs in a blanket, fry em like bacon”. If you didn’t know that is what you were supporting, shame on you.

Shame on the Pittsburgh Kneelers, the NFL, their sponsors and the fans who support them. They disrespect our Flag, our Anthem and our Country for cheap, political, racially-motivated tricks. Look at them all spinning like tops trying to justify their greedy, despicable actions, trying to see how much they can disrespect America and still keep their millions.

The league should have protected the game. It didn’t. Now the whole sport will reap the whirlwind. You spit on America you’re going to make a LOT of people really mad. Too many have died fighting for those rights some want to flaunt. Sure they have the right to protest. So do we. My protest is that I’m taking a knee on the NFL. I’ll never watch another game after being a die hard fan for over 50 years.

Hey dude- neither did the rest of us. Take your grievances to Kaepernick.

Then convince the rest of your team mates and the league to respect the flag, anthem and country.l

Wrong, Foster it s YOUR fault. You guys decided to inject politics into football where it doesn’t belong and now you’re paying the price for it . Too bad. That’s what happens when you are a business and you spit in your customers faces..

boo effing hoo. The racist coach created a hostile work environment demanding players disrepect the USA

Richard Jarzynka
September 26, 2017 at 12:14 PM
I wouldn’t call Tomlin a racist, but he did demand that his players not go onto the field to salute the flag and the men who died fighting for our freedom. That is disgraceful.

The Pittsburg Chodes totally asked for it by not taking the field and then scolding Alejandro Villanueva into making that Bo Bergdahl video yesterday.

If you are unified on trashing America then don’t be surprised when America trashes you. You don’t get to play politics and keep all your fans.

Then stand for the American flag and honoring our military and 1st responders… LIKE IT HAS ALWAYS been done. Just a quick honor of pride for this country, for what it stands for, for how great it has been, and is always getting better.

Jamie Knight
September 26, 2017 at 11:27 AM
Actually, you DID ask for it. That idiot Kaepernick started it and instead of ignoring him, you followed suit. Own it. You’re wrecking your own careers by being sheep. Now go count your millions and tell yourself how rotten and unfair America is.

Hey Foster, I could care less what you are tired of. I am tired of players like you letting your fellow NFL employees splatter the game with their political blather. I was a Steelers fan long before you were born. Hiding in the tunnel like cowards instead of stepping up to put an end to players disrespecting this country ended my time as a Steelers fan. Your fellow players live in gated communities and their kids go to private schools. That privilege was paid for by fans like me. It does not matter what message any player what to make…if they do it by disrespecting those who served with me to defend this country you will all pay the price for not standing up like men and stopping it. Shame on you, shame on each and every one of you.

Roethlisberger and several other players said they had no issue with Villanueva -- "As a team we're behind him 100 percent," cornerback Joe Haden said -- but Mike Tomlin, one of seven black head coaches in the NFL, said he was hoping for 100 percent participation, while acknowledging the protest was not his decision.

Sounds like Villanueva is in the dog house now.

This all goes back to Colin Kaepernick. Him along with many in the league chose to bring politics into football. This is nobody's fault but theirs.

He made his teammates look bad, a veteran, by standing for the national anthem?

The best part is they just keep getting crazier and no one is saying "wait, hold up. This shite is getting out of control"

True, but he was forced to apologize after. Tomlin wasn't happy. We'll see what happens down the road.
