the company issued a second statement to explain to veterans that the company doesn’t actually hate them. Starbucks made its pledge to hire 10,000 refugees as a politicized response to President Donald Trump’s temporary moratorium on travel from a small list of terror-torn nations. The move immediately sparked a #BoycottStarbucks movement, as critics of the liberal coffee house deluged social media with complaints. Many wondered why the company has refused to hire 10,000 military veterans if they had so many job openings ready to fill with foreigners.

This isn’t the first time the coffee seller has had to scramble to apologize to veterans. In November of 2015, the company put out a press release offering veterans new perks after many felt the company had tuned its back on America’s vets.

Honestly Starbucks and veterans just don't mix. A veteran probably brews his own damn coffee.

Yeah... it's pretty fricking stupid, speaking as a veteran.

You fricked up somewhere If you are relying or banking on a Starbucks job anyways

We aren't some untouchable protected class though, we have some great men, we have some real worthless shitbags I wouldn't hire either, though

Maybe Starbucks should just try staying out of political statements. That way they don't alienate either section of their customers.

Businesses should just stay out of politics. Just make good products and shut up.

They said 10,000 across 75 countries. Unless they also meant veterans of every nation, I'm not sure why we would be expecting many veterans willing and able to take jobs in some random, less developed country halfway around the world.

While not a veteran and he was discharged to his ear being infected but my friend who was military for a little while worked at Starbucks for like a month before they asked him to leave because he "didn't fit their style".

frick Starbucks!

I'm done with their bullshite. I will never step foot into another one of their places again or buy their products in stores. No more gift certificates, no more cold coffee in a bottle (although I loved it), and no more overpriced coffee.

If you think I'm a bigot because I support Trump and the ban on refugees, then my money is no longer good for you.

I can get a large (or any size) coffee at McD's right now for $1...and not have to wait and encounter some freakshow.

Or ... just pay a little bit more and go out of my way to get to Dunkin'.

I really don't care what Starbucks does.

I don't think it's stupid at all. In fact, I think it's pretty much spot on.

This country needs to start taking care of it's own people FIRST. Our Vet's have gotten the shaft for a long time.

All of my father's brothers served. Most in WWII. To say they fricked up somewhere is kinda BS. You don't know their situation.

By the government, but I don't think private businesses are. Don't places like Wal-Mart intentionally hire veterans?

And other well run businesses, hire people who best fit a job, veteran or otherwise.

I'm a veteran and I don't step foot in a Starbucks, never have. Let alone want to work there. Lol

I do understand the point, though. There are a lot of Vets out there that have a hard time finding a job, for many different reasons.

Cool bro, except that if you step out from your military career to a job in Starbucks, you've absolutely fricked up. No matter how you'd like to sugar coat it

Well he didn't say people who joined the military messed up, he said people who must rely on a job Starbucks, may have. I disagree, but at least that can be applicable to anybody.
