why don't we say F it and all be ruled under the United States Federal Govt? What could go wrong?
"We SHOULD! Everyone being ruled by one behemoth centralized government is the epitome of conservative principles"

I heard the “st George” they named it after is St. George Wallace, the patron saint of segregation

Using your logic, why don't we say F it and all be ruled under the United States Federal Govt?
My logic is against the creation of more government. "More" government and "big" government are not the same.
Seems that it's you that failed the test on logic.

Having prior experience in municipal government budgets, I know EXACTLY what the end result of any new incorporation effort will be. When the new city council proposes a new millage because it suddenly realizes that it doesn't have enough funding to meet its recurring budget obligations, I want everyone within this thread to come back and tell me that I am wrong.
Do you live here? Do you know how we pay for libraries, sewer, parks, fire dept., water, Mosquitto control, EMS, police, Sheriff, and all of our other parish services?

It is not "more" government. It is "different government".
This guy would have us sell back the Louisiana purchase because it created more states and more government.

weird to see folks one day talk about cutting spending and smaller government, and then the very next day championing more government
This is about better government.
No taxation without representation.
I think SWB's chickens have come home to roost.

So I guess no more incorporations anywhere.
Where does that line get drawn? When should have have stopped creating local governments? 1789? 1900? 2000? Somewhere in between?

Everything west of the Appalachian Mountains should be one big state ruled from Washington. The creation of more governments is un-American.

Just remember, now the voter is on the hook for the failures as well and for any new taxes that may be levied in order to fund the new city. Can't blame the people in North BR going forward.

We vote on taxes and I trust my new community much better than my old community to do the right things.

True conservatives are required to live in unincorporated areas and bend over and take it while the neighboring incorporated area steals your taxes.

Roy Orbison provides a great song for this moment:
IT"S OVER!
And Roy just keeps on giving us appropriate tunes...
Crying
Godspeed to St George!
Now make it look good.

Literally everyone who voted in favor of incorporation. Newly incorporated city = one more municipality, one more school board, one more city court, one more city council, one more mayor, more legacy costs for teachers ... all of that is more government to be funded with more taxes.
What you said would make sense if the unincorporated area wasn’t already governed by an incompetent and unviable city-parish government.
If Prairieville was trying to incorporate I would be opposed.
If Prairieville was governed by the city of Baton Rouge, I would absolutely support incorporation.

Does anything change for those of us who are on the outskirts of St. George but not in city limits?

We can petition to annex into St. George

So what is the expected timeframe of when the Governor must appoint the first mayor, council, and police chief.
First order of business the next parish council meeting should be to break up the City/Parish government. Baton Rouge needs to learn to thrive on its own vs. the backs of a certain section of the Parish.
Co-worker at office is now worried his taxes will increase big time because Baton Rouge can't live off North Baton Rouge. Poor One Hundred Oaks area too. They will have to carry the city now.

They are probably going to have to litigate the boundaries first so this may be a long process.
And yes, Baton Rouge will lose tax revenue, but they also lose a lot of expenses.
