Someone dumb down the Israel/India pact for me.

With all the craziness going on, the one thing I've noticed is all of the Indian pro-Israel tweeter posts.
Full disclosure, I'm dumb to the history...genuinely curious to the full support.

I’m guessing because India can sympathize with Israel due to their experience and relationship (or lack thereof) with Pakistan

Hamas is a conquest- based totalitarian Murder Cult. Not hyperbole. Their entire mission statement is basically kill the Jews. The Indians have a lot of experience in their neighborhood with that brand of Islam.

India may be the next closest (geographically) non-muslim enemy of the pedophile worshiping islamist.
Like us, if the Israelis can fight them there we don't have to fight them here.
At least it was that way before Osama brought them to Dearbornistan.

India has the third highest population of Muslims in the world, and it is likely that they represent an even higher percentage of the population.

172 million muslims in a country of over a billion people.
When the brits split up India they "tried" to move most of the muslims to Pakistan and leave the Hindus in India. Lots of friction between those two religions. Given that India is overwhelmingly Hindu, yes I can see how they would side with the Jews of Israel.

There are several things that are in play.
First, the current Indian government is run by right-wing, pro-hindutva party, BJP and is led by Modi. Compared to the centre-left parties that are in opposition, BJP is considered anti-Muslim. The Muslim vote bank in India is sizable, and it never votes for BJP. So the opposition party wants to retain the Muslim vote bank, and needs to be somewhat sympathetic to the Palestinian cause (not the terrorism part, but the two state solution part).
Second, BJP has pioneered the use of social media to advance their agenda. They have created an IT-cell which is very well coordinated and very successful.
Third, BJP first rose into prominence in early 1990s when they started supporting the cause of demolishing a mosque (Babri Masjid) that was built at the Hindu holy site (Ayodhya) several centuries ago. They have finally succeeded in building a temple in that site which will be opened soon. This has parallels to how the Al-Aqsa mosque is built on the Temple mound. This shorts of created a psychological bond.
Fourth, BJP and prime minister Modi are experiencing extreme high popularity. Modi win the 2014 election very decisively, and he won the 2019 election with even bigger margins, and in all likelihood will retain the power in 2024.
All these reasons come together to form a sort of connection between Modi supporters and Israel which is manifesting in the online support that Israel is receiving from Indians.

Long and short of it is Hindu Indians hate Muslims. And while India does have a sizable Muslim population, it is still only like 15% of the total population of India.
