Will democrats Ross and Navarro have enough power to stop Trump's deal with the NAFTA partners?

Both will not sign unless something is done about the protectionist steel tariffs Trump is insisting upon. (I thought you people told me these tariffs were only for a short period and only for talk purposes??)

I wonder how much each of those steel jobs has cost us?

No telling. It is unbelievable how committed to screwing us Trump is to favor the steel companies.

I saw this week the UP railroad is laying off like 500 people and that container freight coming into the country has dropped tremendously the last month.

The Omaha, Nebraska-based enterprise hopes to cut costs after years of performance issues and congestion have stifled profits.

The company will reduce 30 percent of general and administrative expenses by 2020, having already cut thousands of jobs in recent years.

“These cuts to our general and administrative structure typically do not affect those on the ground,” said Kristen South, Union Pacific public relations representative. “Usually, these are not the people moving or working on the trains.”

You truly are an idiot.

Apparently not a lot because saying "500 jobs lost" doesn't mean much when thousands are created for each one of those 500 gone. And Mexico and Canada don't have much of a choice. It'll get done, because the US holds all the cards. It's almost like you people aren't paying attention to the economy. Historically low unemployment. Higher workforce participation. Manufacturing job creation higher than in 60 years. Wages are rising. Stock market booming.

And you link a Canadian news source. The CBC, one of the most biased, left leaning news sources in North America. Shoving your fingers in your ears, ignoring all contrary evidence to your ideas and yelling at the top of your lungs that "ORANGE MAN BAD!" isn't an argument.

Give me a break.

Please quit trying to assert that the tariffs are not impacting the economy and quit denying the facts about the trade deals----the fact is NONE of the Trump deals have been signed.

How Trump got so tied to steel is beyond me.

Hopefully he will back off after the midterms.

In the meantime here is a very good article that even Trumpkins should appreciate about the Chinese trade war and how it got started. LINK

Clearly in the opinion of that author this trade war is all about IP theft--a point I have been trying to make to you hard heads. We are waging this war for multinational US companies that want to do more business in China and that is the biggest thing.

When the Chinese give Trump something on that it will be over. I hope it is sooner rather than latter.

(Oh yeah--you might be surprised how many Goldman Sachs people there are involved in this deal. Swamp.)

Why would you think I hate my country??? Do you have a link to anything I have said that leads you to think I hate the USA?

My country is not the government. I hate when the government hurts my country with taxes, welfare, war and tariffs.

Why don't you speak up for your country??

You mean China is leaning on them because this prevents them shipping their shite steel into US via Mexico and Canada.

What do you do for a living? What makes you think you're the leading expert on all trade deals?

Serious question.

One thing that is very important to the UP is container traffic. The UP does a huge business in stack trains out of Long Beach, CA.

Here are some examples of shipment changes on things in the first round of tariffs (remember that round impacted a relatively small amount of goods compared to the September tariffs)

quote:

The effect of the first round of tariffs can be seen by looking inside the Chinese containers being exported to the U.S. According to Ocean Trade Database, the amount of traded goods included on the $34 billion tariff list dropped 21 percent in July from the year before. For example, the number of transformers imported in July 2018 was 60 percent less than imported in July 2017. This chart shows a select few items subject to tariff and cargo capacity this year compared to last, as expressed by 20-foot equivalent units, or TEU.

I know the UP is saying otherwise but they know these numbers and are preparing for shipment slowdowns after year end.
