Perez is establishment Dem heavily favored by Hillary. He was on her vp shortlist

Sandernistas hoping her loss last year would finally give them party control are dealt a big setback!

Reddit very unhappy

It's not just Clinton but Obama wanted Perez as well.

The Obamas and Clintons still control the democratic party.

Perez is an Obama guy, the Clinton people tried to float their own candidate early o and got shutdown. Hell, if Hillary et al hadn't shut out the OFA folks in the last few weeks and went back to old school morons she likely doesn't lose in the first place.

Well when you are a socialist you are pretty familiar with being an utter failure at everything..

They clearly all wanted Ellison. His name has been floating everywhere the last few months.

He didn't get a good response in the court of public opinion, so cooler heads prevailed.

Dems are in lockstep.

Perez was an early favorite who clearly wouldn't have run without Obama's blessing

After DWS, I seriously doubt ANYONE was allowed to run without O signing off.

Obama hasn't been strong in leading the democrats in a bottom to top "grind" strategy. He's good as a rockstar who could keep himself relatively popular with personal charm and political skill. But this was his guy. And I think the Clintons were with him, too.

Interesting to see if the two camps can get something going.

So will Keith Ellison quit congress now that he is deputy dnc chair? Does his appointment still piss off the anti Ellison crowd? Don't see how this combo will last unless they get free cash from big donors so it will probably last short term

In my mind, Ellison was the guilty pleasure pick. The one to push the agenda forward to different places. Sort of the next step. Perez was the more status quo guy. I honestly think had HRC won, Ellison would be the guy. Perez is about self preservation and slowing things down some.

Perez was the favorite from the moment he announced.
