Higher Ed about to get fricked again. Forget your loop around BR.
Only solution to this is wipe state government clean and start over. Call a constitutional convention. Tax reform needs to start with a blank slate.
I just can't bear to watch this happen to LSU, year after year.

Gotta get rid of all those protected funds at some point. I don't know when, but maybe one day we'll finally broach that topic. I don't care whether it's a Republican, a Democrat, or Mike VII, honestly. Someone just needs to do it.

But JBE raised taxes. I thought that was gonna fix everything.

Hey honor code is on the job. 300 million is pocket change.

But David Vitter slept with a prostitute

And we just raised taxes over one billion dollars.
We spend too much.
We spend too much.

Funny how that happened the TAX and spend Govenor is not going to be happy until he gets every tax increase his heart desires.
I personally love the complaining about how the cost of the TOPS program continues to rise but the forg er t they continue to cut higher education forcing the Universities to raise tution to cover the cuts.

You guys should cull a few of those four year universities.

Protected funds and a reliance on oil revenues are killing us. Doesn't matter who's in office.
Serious question: what would it take to change the protected status of certain parts of the budget?

If he would go back to Bobbys last budget we would have a surplus. His new budget is almost 3 billion more than the 2014-2015.

SUNO and UL Monroe should close down. That would probably cut the deficit in half.

Worse yet the lone voice of reason for the citizens of Louisiana is now a Senator in DC. We will soon realize how much we miss John Kennedy as the treasure in Baton Rouge. At least he kept us informed of all the under the table dealing and pork barrel spending Edwards and his cronies like to do in June.

And that's with a third of the budget being carried by the fricking federal government.
Banana Republic. Explains so much.

Another year of low taxes from cheap oil trying to pay for a too large government we cannot afford. Honor Code the tax and spender will not cut spending and can't tax Louisiana enough to pay for our government.
Yes, we need to break up the untouchable protected areas (most of our government expenses) so that we can cut across the board instead of education and hospitals.
Bobby was afraid to do this and so far our heroic West Pointer is just as yellow.

Elections have consequences.
Y'all shouldn't have lost your damn minds over an irrelevant 15 year old story that had nothing to do with public policy, taxes and good governance.
Vitter was the only out of all the four candidates that was willing to do what it took to whip arse with the RINOs in the legislature and push through what needed to be done.

Easier said than done.
Jindal tried to close down SUNO years ago and the blowback against that was a full blown holy war full of rage despite everyone acknowledging that SUNO has a 4% graduation rate.
But to be fair, Jindal really didn't give that much effort to it like Trump is putting into the wall and Mexico paying for it.

Good job carrying water for a hack like Larry Flynt.
Vitter directly threatened the fiefdoms not just louisiana sheriffs but pretty much everyone else that did business in the state capital. RINOs and democrats hated him.
He had a plan that trimmed the fat from every agency in the state and every parish the state was giving money too. His website was impressive as shite and more filled out than JBE"s who was a few paragraphs away from being blank.
He didn't give a shite who it pissed off.

No.
That's why I hate Jindal who had so much political capital he could've pushed through a rewrite of the state constitution to get rid of all the protected spending. Instead he just wasted it for fake check the box things to polish his resume for a presidential run that was dead in the water before it even started.
I can't trust wonder boy type pols after him anymore.

Again, this won't happen until we get rid of all the protected spending under the state constitution and nobody wants to do that. It's going to take a legit fiscal conservative that truly gives zero fricks and has no aspirations for higher office than Governor.

Ask Benson for the money. I can't handle any higher taxes
