If he gives a large tax break to dual income couples with no kids then I will give him mucho credit. However, somehow I get the feeling that I won't get much of a break, if any at all. It seems that if you don't want kids then the government thinks you should pay more taxes than those that do

to offset my income loss due to taxes I'm thinking of making bumper stickers that say "keep working, millions with kids depend on you to fund the country". What do you think?

In order for there to be an economy, there needs to be exchange.
In order for there to be exchange, there needs to be people on either side of exchange.
In order for there to be people, adults need to be having kids.

Not all of them. Population growth shows that.

That's OK. Plenty of people reproduce more than necessary. We could benefit from a population decrease, too.

In many senses, yes, but not in terms of tax outlays, especially because it is the wealthiest who have the lowest fertility rates.

Hell yes it is middle class
The average HOUSEHOLD income in the US is $55k. An individual making double that is certainly not middle class.
In fact, $100k for an individual puts you in the 94th percentile.

Holy shite I read the first page thinking you people think 100k is poor bc of how fricking outlandish it would be to call 100k RICHER than middle class.
The frick is wrong with half you dumbasses.

Mine is either going down 3%, or up 5%. I may need an unpaid vacation in December, even though I have a bunch of pto. It'll be a photo finish.

If you make $100k and still think you aren't well off, then you need to examine how much you are spending.
Do you really need a house or car that expensive?
How much do you spend on credit?
How much do you overspend on groceries, clothes, & luxuries?
How many vacations do you take & how much do you spend?
If you can't live extremely comfortably on $100k, then you are doing something wrong. I get the feeling most of the people that feel that way are spending way more than they should.

You can live like a fricking king at 100k.
This is just fricking nonsense.
A person making 100k, depending on which state they live in, maybe, MAYBE take home 70k.
If you think a person taking home $70k is "rich", then you must be seriously poor, or live in an extremely cheap place to live.

These are all questions "middle class" people ask. These are also questions that every person making $100k asks already.

People who don't have kids pay the same property taxes you pay, to support schools and parks that they never use.
Would you support childless people being exempt from the mils that go to public schools? Since we're talking about what people contribute.

Cost of living should be the main factor IMO
quote:
The median household income in the U.S. is $59,039 according to the most recent government data. Approximately half of all Americans will fall below this household income amount, and the other half will fall above. Although this may help you learn which half you and your family fall under, this figure doesn't help us compare households of different sizes. Moreover, there aren't universally accepted definitions of the various economic classes.
quote:
At the top of the income classes is the upper class. There is no single definition of whom this includes. Many think of the upper class in terms of the 1%. To be in the richest 1% nationally, a household needs to have the annual income of at least $389,436, according to the Economic Policy Institute. But one could argue that the upper class is larger than that if you look at America as a whole.
quote:
According to census data from 2015, 6.1% of households bring in $200,000 and higher every year and 14.1% bring in between $100,000 and $150,000. This is the upper middle class.
