Dipshit, that’s 60k with full social distancing. We don’t shut everything down to mitigate seasonal flu.

Comparing the numbers to influenza numbers after we all took extraordinary measures to mitigate COVID 19 is slightly moronic.

What do you expect from liberals who take joy in death of others?

Well both people I know who had this said it was much worse than any flu they’ve ever had. Both fairly young with no underlying issues. But here I realize that nobody would believe that. Because it’s only hard on old people.

LOL! Grocery stores are packed. Home improvement stores are packed. You really think "social distancing" is having any real affect on this?

The average flu season isn’t close to 60K US deaths. Rush struck out.

More than 200,000 people are hospitalized each year in the United States for the flu illness and its complications and between 3,000 and 49,000 people die each year from the flu. The number of flu deaths every year varies. For example, The average number of flu deaths during the 1990s was 36,000. Average number over a longer time frame from 1976 to 2007 was 23,607 deaths. If you take the number of deaths year wise, you will find a vast variation with a low of 3,349 deaths during the flu season of 1986-87 to a high of 48,614 in 2003-04.

According to the CDC, the flu kills a surprising 3,300 to 49,000 people every year. This rather high number varies greatly in any given year, and according to many health experts is pretty exaggerated. Most years, US death certificates show fewer than 300 deaths attributed to the flu. A large issue in determining the actual number of flu-related deaths is differentiating the flu from other more serious illnesses with flu-like symptoms.

We did however have to shut down the country unfortunately to achieve this low rate. We go on as normal during regular flu season.

Are you that dense? Take out the social distancing and see where we are.

The CDC models were assuming only 50% of Americans MODERATELY abided by the recommendations.

Regardless of where you stand on the measures we are taking....It’s dishonest not to recognize that the reduction in the real & projected numbers is at the very least somewhat attributable to the actions that have been taken. Distancing, closing everything, cancelling events, etc.

The conclusion here should not be “See!?! this was the flu!!!!111!”

That's completely subjective to where you are. Some of y'all are so simple it's embarrassing.

I'm sure none of the experts considered social distancing when accounting for variables four weeks after those policies were enforced

Yes. Because even if those limited establishments are still operational and busy, nearly every other sector of society is closed.

Pretending that the distancing doesn’t have an enormous impact on numbers is just silly. You cheapen your point by insisting that it doesn’t have an effect. When it’s a noun, you usually spell it with an ‘e’ by the way.
