Just looked up what kind of drilling fluid they were using. (There are many types of drilling fluids) It was a clay-mud. Probably just tore up the environment!

Clay Mud

"It's a natural clay mud used as a lubricant for drilling, commonly known bentonite," Lee said.

ETA
I should add that it does, indeed have an impact on water quality. But it's not exactly an ecological disaster.

Alexis Daniel, spokeswoman for Energy Transfer Partners, the developer of the Rover Pipeline, said the drilling mud that was released is made up of natural clay and water and is non-toxic and it is not harmful to the environment.

No big deal. I should have gone through the thread and saw that it had already been brought up.

Honestly? I rarely start threads for this very reason. It just doesn't pay!
