If you are a democrat and believe in everything the democrats support then I can definitely see why you would want to vote for her. If not, then how could you support someone that 97% of the time supports exactly what Obama, Reid, and Pelosi support?

I've known the Senator for some time now. Politics is local and my business interest are very much aligned with Senator Landrieu. I always vote my wallet like Im sure most people do. The energy chairmanship would only be ours if she wins and the Senate is 50-50. It's the first REAL POWER Louisiana would have in generations.

Both her and the Dems winning is a stretch at this point. I have to recalculate my business at this point and search out new alliances. Cassidy is a threat and so is Vitter to my livelihood. Jindal has really hurt me and my family. Socially I am on the Democrats side more often but do appreciate some fisical responsibility.

Landrieu would look worse if she tried to take the weasel route and make excuses for her vote, so kudos to her for standing up for herself. However, the idea that her vote was the deciding one is ridiculous, since it didn't count any more than the votes of the other Senators who voted for it.

Agreed. What's stunning is her arrogance in defying the sentiments of the majority of the state.

So she's supposed to get brownie points for standing on her voting record??

It's hers, so she may as well own it.

That's my point, she'd get attcked even if she ran away from it.

Since she was the last to declare before she voted then her decision and her subsequent vote made the difference.

No, her vote didn't count any more than the other 50, but it was public knowledge if she voted No the bill would be defeated.

And as a citizen who lost his insurance and saw the insurance costs for my employees escalate due to Obamacare I'm totally against Landrieu.

Now if she sent me a bunch of federal contracts to make up the difference and then some, I could be "persuaded" to change my mind.

But I'm still waiting.

That's bullshite! The members of the Congress don't vote individually one day at a time, the members of each house all vote together. It may be true that had Landrieu voted "no", the bill would have failed, but that's true of all the other Senators too.

Mary was the second to last to announce, not the last. At the time; however, she knew if she said NO that Obamacare would fail.

Spin it like you want, but if she decided No, Obamacare would never have come up for a vote in its present form.

So all that voted to pass had the deciding vote? Interdasting.

They called her vote the Louisiana Purchase. What exactly did the state get in exchange for her vote?

Or did it only benefit Mary?

And the irony is, had McCain been elected, we would have gotten Obamacare but named Romneycare.

And Republicans would have loved it, just as they had for 2 decades.

Then if there was such an hue and cry for it in the GOP, why wasn't it passed when they had the WH, and both Houses of Congress?

I think it would have gone the way of Bush's Amnesty Plan, or Harriet Meyers.
The Base would have never stood for it.

Wow, couldn't make up a bigger lie.

What McCain was campaigning on was nowhere close to either the Affordable Care Act or Romney Care. And it is a massive assumption to even assume it would have passed or garnered universal Republican support.

Here is an analysis of what he proposed in 2008.

We'll never know what a Mc Cain presidency would have been like; however, we do know exactly what an Obama presidency has brought us.

Big difference in playing pretend and in people losing really their doctors and paying more for health insurance.

This may have been said, as I didn't go through all the posts, but, the real point is not whether she cast the last and deciding vote, the point is had she represented the wishes of the majority of the people of the state she was elected to serve, the bill would have been defeated. She spit in the face of the majority of Louisianians and all of the country is paying for that arrogance.

By the way, for what it worth, I was at a "presentation" where she reiterated her statement that she would vote for the ACA again and again...is she could.
