I heard this story yesterday. But, I couldn't find a credible link. She is indeed a complete idiot.

I'm sure this will get little if any play by the MSM.

Rice was confirmed by the Senate to be UN ambassador, was it an issue then?

If the claims are true it is more a reflection on the useless Albright, as the ultimate decison was hers.

There is more to the story than is provided in the link.

quote:

"In 1996, while serving as assistant secretary of state for African affairs under former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Rice helped persuade President Clinton to rebuff Sudan's offer to turn Osama bin Laden, who was then living there, over to U.S. authorities."

quote:

As a member of Clinton's National Security Council, he wrote, she doubted Sudan's credibility.

Can anyone expound on this offer? Did Sudan expect something in return? What was her incentive to deny them based on "credibility"?

re: Rice Blew Early Chance to Capture OBL
According to this and a couple of other articles I skimmed from ~2001, the Clinton administration would have been happy to let Bin Laden be extradited to Saudi Arabia, but the Saudis didn't want him. It's been suggested that there was no way to indict him in U.S. courts.

re: Rice Blew Early Chance to Capture OBL
The FBI, in 1996 and 1997, had their efforts to look at terrorism data and deal with the bin Laden issue overruled every single time by the State Department, by Susan Rice and her cronies, who were hell-bent on destroying the Sudan … Rice [cited] the suffering of Christians [in Sudan] as one reason that she doubted the integrity of the Sudanese offers. But her analysis largely overlooked the view of U.S. Ambassador to Sudan Tim Carney, who argued for calling Khartoum's bluff.

Basically she didn't want to have diplomatic ties with Sudan because of their horrible human rights record.

She along with others, allowed their liberal way of thinking to get in the way of common sense. Imagine if we would have made a deal with Sudan to hand over Bin laden. It's a possibility that 9/11 may have never happened.
TxTiger save the obligatory "Bush carried out 9/11" please.

LINK

I guess Newsmax didn't pick it up.

quote:

It does not surprise us that U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice either willfully or blindly parroted altered Benghazi talking points, going on five Sunday news shows on Sept. 16 to push the false narrative that the attack on our consulate in Benghazi was not a terrorist attack but a flash mob inflamed by a months-old Internet trailer insulting to Islam. This isn't the first time she has been clueless about and blind to the reality of terror.

Clearly top shelf journalism.

Rwanda is how she is going to go down and that's enough. Pulling the word "genocide" out of the Clinton Administrations language because of fear of losing the Mid Term elections is a known fact. It's makes you wonder about her truthfulness on pulling the words "Al Queda" and "Terrorist Attacks" out of the the language on the Sunday talk shows 5 days after Benghazi. That is how you frame this issue.

"I swore to myself that if I ever faced such a crisis again," Susan Rice said about the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, "I would come down on the side of dramatic action, going down in flames if that was required."

Article from 2011

The Rwanda debacle is and should be the analogue of focus here for Republicans - I agree.
