Pretty sure I read he has refused to speak to the media.

Stores don't report every stolen item, especially small things. shite, retailers don't even report most thefts.

But yes, the question then becomes why did the police initially approach him?

First it's easy to see if a theft was phoned in. It is just as easy to tell if a theft was reported via radio to the cops out on patrol.
Third, the cop could tell you if he heard the report and whether or not he went back to stop Brown because of that report. That would be harder to prove.

ETA, if the store never reported the altercation, how did the cops know there was one to begin with? They sure got the tape fast didn't they?

theft was phoned in by another customer

the police said that the officer didn't stop brown as a suspect in the robbery.

2nd, there is another statement from the store owner that states they never called in a "theft".

A female customer in the store called in the altercation...

The store owner has an attorney and is refusing to speak publicly about the incident. You already saw what happened to the QT that was wrongly associated with the circumstances and then the fact that this convenience store was looted the day this surveillance tape came out.

The owner doesn't want his shite destroyed.

There have been answers to that question and no conflicting versions. He was initially stopped because he was walking in the middle of the street. If you come across some other explanation for that initial stop, please link.

initially, but upon pulling away got the radio dispatch about the strong armed robbery and reversed to confront the two.

I don't see how this is even debatable... Darian said that the cop initially approached and told them to get out of the road and the friend of the cop, who spoke on the radio, said that it was the reason he initially confronted them.

Yes, but according to the family friend on the radio show: after he stopped them for walking in street, the cop returned/backed up ...and maybe went too close to them in the process... the kid matched a description of a report of theft/robbery at the convenience store. ?? Of course this is heresay...so who knows how accurate it is.

The police chief said this too, so I'd say it is a fact at this point

Wilson initially confronts them to get out of the road.... He pulls away and stops to see if they do... While waiting, he gets a call over the radio and notices that these two either match description or have cigars in their hands... Reverses to confront them again.

According to the stores attorney, the owners were bewildered when the police approached them demanding the surveillance tapes.

So Ferguson PD randomly picked a business to check their surveillance tapes to see if perhaps Micheal Brown might be on it?

And then happened to get a hit... man that is really really lucky. God must have sent them there.

At this point, he's concerned about somebody killing him, IMHO.

The only problem is the police chief's version is based on Wilson's (the cop) account. The family friend/radio caller is also basing her account on Wilson's account as told to his wife. Then the wife told her friend ( the radio caller). So it's not really corroboration. It's just repeating Wilson's story.

--eta--
but if he did "get a little too close" when backing up that might explain what set Brown off...and led to him allegedly slamming the door on Wilson.

Exactly why it has to be investigated.

All that video shows is him leaning over a counter. There may have been an exchange of money, but you can't really tell.

Why would he lean all the way into the counter just to pay? He was grabbing things.

chief later came out and said the box of cigars had nothing to do with the stop

Officer Darren Wilson had no idea 18-year-old Michael Brown was a suspected robber when he stopped the teenager and his pal, the chief later admitted.

“They were walking down the middle of the street, blocking traffic, that was it,” said Ferguson, Mo., police chief Thomas Jackson.

The theft of a $48.99 box of Swisher Sweets cigars from a convenience store “had nothing to do with the stop,” the chief said.

the police are trying to character assassinate michael brown.

While quite possible... I'd imagine and hope that there are radio communications that back this up. That could be what the Chief is basing his statement off of. We really don't know.

I've said in the big thread that the radio communications are one of the biggest things we are missing and it was stated at some point that Wilson called for back up prior to the incident. I don't remember where that came from, but it was said.

And the media was trying to tell us he was a boy scout.

The fact Brown had apparently been involved in a theft 10minutes before the stop is relevant to Brown's state of mind. Most who want to know what happened would want to know this.

The timing of the release; however, didn't seem to be appropriate but how ironic is it that the people who cry for the truth and for facts get upset when they only get facts that don't back up their preconceived notion of the characters and of events.

Unless I'm misreading that article... nothing in there says what the headline states.

The chief came out and said that Wilson was unaware of the robbery when the initial contact took place.... That is not the same as Wilson reengaging them, which led to the shooting.
