What was it called again during the passing of the ACA? The Super Majority? that always is helpful

There is no magic plan that will deliver the freebies citizens are demanding at prices they will be satisfied paying. Unfortunately, republicans have let democrats set the expectations that such a magic plan exists. It does not.

Trump can't get this done

I would love it if Trump steps up to the podium tomorrow and announces that he couldn't get Republicans together to repeal so as of today Obamacare is law but he as President will not prop it up and when it fails maybe we can come back together and see what we can do for the American voters. And exit the podium.

They actually had since 2010 to come up with a replacement plan. Even while a minority party then, they could've had one. Get these old GOPe frickers out. They say they want to repeal it, but it's BS because their corporate owners profit off Obamacare.

It is not his job. It is the job of elected legislators.

I did not vote for him. My hope is they would pass something, anything, and then him veto it on the grounds that government legislated healthcare is loose constructionism and is unconstitutional. The only thing I would support him signing is a repeal.

Those two things are actually his job.

However, I expect that neither of these things will occur.

I knew you were a socialist. Reagan is rolling over in his grave over your statement.

Where is the line that would make you decide that it was too expensive considering our current debt load?

ETA: Nevermind, I'm pretty sure you have some personal vendetta against healthcare companies so there is no line for you about cost.

I wish you liberals would just be honest about it. Just tell us how much of my money you want.

Probably.

As I have said countless times on this board. Reagan is the best president of my lifetime.

Doesn't mean I agree with everything he wanted or did.

I'd much rather spend money on making sure your grandma can have the care she needs in her later life without putting her family in permanent debt, then build another F-35 bomber that doesn't work.

My grandma has passed and she died with her care already being taken care of by Medicare. What does the ACA have to do with her?

Everything.

It's embarrassing that the world's greatest nation doesn't take care of their sick.

But happily build more and bigger bombers.

shrug...National Healthcare is coming...the GOP realized that people want and like ACA and to repeal it would cost them heavily in 2018.

How was she affected by the ACA?

I'm fine with giving up bombers and pulling back from the world a bit. The influence we give up will cost us. Just how much that cost will be is unknown but it will be substantial. Russia will be pleased so that will be good.

Bodies all over the street? The ER is filled with people that don't pay for their care.

Leave my healthcare plan alone and expand Medicaid and be honest about the cost with the taxpayers. See if it will stick when everyone understands the true cost.

But, you have to promise that this is the last trip down socialism lane you will ask me to take with you.

hell it's the only trip down socialist lane I'll take with you.

I have long felt that the medical insurance "industry" is a disgrace. Well before a certain senator from Chicago got the crazy idea to run for president.

For me, this is right on schedule.

Why do you find the HC industry disgraceful but not the food industry?

Food is far more basic to life than healthcare, yet you seem to be fine with the profit motive in food.

Because he is satisfied with EBT covering everyone that needs to. He already admitted to being a socialist. He loves him some entitlement programs and wants to keep on adding.

That can mean so many things though, can't it? It really depends on perspective.

My perspective...I'm healthy, and reasonably well off. I've got it better than most people in the world and this country. My family can afford a little more if it means that families that can't afford healthcare can receive it.

Coinciding with that perspective is my belief that the government wastes a great deal of money on conflicts that shouldn't involve us. I'd rather see that money used to benefit our own population, whether that means healthcare, education or infrastructure. I know there's more nuance to conflicts in which our allies are involved, but some of our more recent interventions look more like corporate welfare.

Back to health...the ACA has not been great. The new bill proposed looks about the same or worse. The old system was fine for me, but terrible for many.

It's a complex situation, and until Congress starts working together on the issue, refining the ACA or whatever comes next, we're going to see one bad, knee jerk reaction piece of legislation after another.

I like to play around with it, but the political tribalism illustrated on the "poliboards" of both the left and right are what's really taking this country down a dark path. Both sides are manipulated by their chosen brand of media to dislike the other side, this dislike is projected through demographic analysis to the politicians that come to an increasingly polarized position. Now one side or the other always feels screwed over and angry. Angry people are stupid people which is great for politicians, because now they don't have to work as hard. They can just blame the other side for their lack of accomplishment.

Anyway... I'll go back to not posting until my poliboard girlie starts missing me. You know who you are, BC.

These liberal republicans want Obamacare. They're trying to keep it but they've outsmarted themselves or shall I say Our President outsmarted them and now we will get full repeal!
