I remember vividly during the 2008 Alfred E. Smith dinner McCain spent a good ten minutes going on about how amazing it would be if the country elected Obama and how much good it would represent.

I was like "Are you kidding me"? It's nitty-gritty time during a major election and you are going to praise your opponent like that and give him millions in free praise?

John MCCain is a war hero but that doesn't entitle him to escape political criticism.

Him bending over and not attacking Obama, then choosing a folksy dipshit as his running mate makes so much more sense now.

I remember when he was on The View during the campaign, and talked about how "conservative" referred to the strict adherence to the constitution.

Total fricking idiot Whoopi Goldberg replied "but if we did that, I would still be a slave," because she's a total fricking idiot.

Did McCain explain what the 13th Amendment is? No. He just sheepishly said "well, you have a point there." Dipshit audience went wild.

That's when I knew he would lose.

Dude said he was directly responsible for the Orlando attacks:

Called Benghazi worse the Watergate:

And hit Obama on Syria a good bit:

The validity of his charges can certainly be disputed toward Trump or Obama, but lets not rewrite history. McCain is a fairly equal opportunity curmudgeon and Trump is not some unique victim to his scorn.

He's a Russia hawk, has been for some time: Here he is defending Romney's Russia debate comments and slamming Obama for supposedly not understanding the depth of Putin's ambitions and mind set.

What's even more sad, on McCuck's part, is that Dole was 10x's a better candidate (imo). He just had the misfortune of going against Bill Clinton.

McCain's campaign was absolutely fricking terrible. His "friendly" approach and "reach across the aisle" bullshite didn't resonate with anyone.

McCain didn't really want to win when it turned out to be Obama. He'd have run harder against Hillary but he honestly wanted Obama to win deep down. It's unreal.

You can't get anymore cucked than when a bunch of obese middle aged women have you bent over the barrel.

I'm honestly wondering just who the frick thought he would be a good idea as the nominee. I know Bush 43 had burnt up a lot of goodwill in the GOP but damn he should've pushed harder to make sure McCain wasn't the nominee.

No I was a freshman @ LSU during Obama's first 100 days. I was too busy hitting up Reggies to care about politics.

Right.

Slavery is finessed in the Constitution. There is no protection for it, but no proscription either. In the event, Slavery was governed by state laws, not federal.

There is a lot of confusion about the Emancipation proclamation. Under the ordinary course of government Lincoln had no power over slavery, which he said many times. The EP was based on his war powers as president. It excluded all of Tennessee for instance because Tennessee was under union control. When the EP became known, slaves began to slip away north. Rebel military power began to wane almost right away.

His campaign theme:"Straight Talk". How soaring and inspiring!

"Make America Great Again"? Now THAT is how you frame your campaign message.

McCain is a generally crappy person that he is BECAUSE he was a war hero.

He came home and it was like a permanent social free pass.

Regardless of the reason, whether one is a war hero, or great athlete, humans who discover they get no real social consequences for their actions quite often turn into assholes
