I agree, though I will say the public tantrum we're seeing from liberals now dwarfs that of conservatives in 2009.

I came to USA as an international student. Finished my MS+PhD from LSU (hence on this board). Started working on an H1B visa. My employer applied for a green card in 2010. Since, there is a long wait for Indians (which is absolutely discriminatory), I will probably get mine in 2020.
You can't just become a citizen just like that. You can't become a citizen first, if you want to come here to study. You have to come here on a F1 student visa.
I might be wrong, but seems like your anger is misguided as you do not know much about how US immigration works, yet vocally comment about it.

Yes. Here is the latest green card bulletin - LINK Notice how India is specifically backlogged. So if you applied for a green card in EB3 category, and you are Indian, the current wait is 12 years. So, if you are an Indian and you are applying for a green card right now, the worst case wait can be as long as 20-30 years if not more. China is backlogged a little bit, but not as bad as India. Most other countries have no backlog at all.

Because it is arbitrary, not well-thought-out, does not serve any purpose, causes harassment to law abiding legal immigrants, and immigrants like me who legally live in USA . So I can be next. Trump's EO about banning muslims from the 7 countries is boneheaded in the sense that there is hardly any benefit, while the -ve repercussions can be pretty high. His actions does not make sense.

Yes Indians have a longer wait. There are quotas and there are a LOT of Indians that want to come here since they speak English.
Not sure it is particularly discriminatory more just an artifact of government intervention into what could be handled by supply and demand.
