When do you leave the party? I left the Democratic party in 2012 . I firmly believe that neither party has the American people's interest at heart. So how long do you keep voting for empty promises and failed ideas? When do we get a true 3rd party ? The one thing i hoped to get from Trump was the rise of a 3rd party when Trumpkin's realized that the GOP is their worst enemy.

I didn't vote in the last election. I'm a pretty reliable Republican voter.

I had Trump in the Presidential race I didn't give a shite about and Greitens (a Trump wannabe) in the Missouri governor's race.

I've been pretty jaded since 2004 and 2006 was pretty much the red pill moment with Foley being outed as a teenie diddler.

I registered as an independent in 2001. I usually vote libertarian, although I was rabid anti bush in 2004.

They are doing what they believe to be in america's best interest. But they often confuse their best interest with american's. But I do truly believe that Rs and Ds that serve (for the most part) want what is best for america.

When the 3rd party can get a large amount of funding and media exposure somehow. They can't do anything if they can't get their message across in an effective manner.

I have been a registered Independent since I registered to vote in 1985.

I do not believe that anyone in either party has America's best interests in mind. They have their own (personal) interests in mind only.

I have voted 3rd party in most Presidential elections. Locally, my friends describe me as "anti-incumbent."

We need term limits because the system is too corrupt to unseat powerful politicians. Good guys have no chance.

Must have a 3rd party.

I changed my affiliation from republican to independent last year.

If not for Trump I wouldn't have voted.

It's become geographic and demographic...not political. People with polar Ideological principles have little chance of resolving those differences politically. Politics becomes insufficient and dysfunctional.

It's all about who gets what, how much and why. Try talking about that to people who believe they have an equal right re those issues. One person's Right becomes another's enslavement.

Above my pay grade.

I'm not in a party.

I have an internal belief system which I use to help me assess information I acquire.

I have no brand loyalty. I have ideological loyalty.

I don't actually like very many Republicans. But, of all the politicians I do like, they're all Republican.

The true threat of a 3rd party would be the only thing that would make Ds and Rs work together unilaterally to prevent.

When people stop considering a vote for a 3rd party candidate a "wasted vote".

I voted for Gary Johnson in the last election. I didn't think he would be a good president or that he had a shot at winning, but I wanted to do my part to help the Libertarian Party get the 5% of the popular vote they needed to be eligible for public funding on the next election.

A vote for a 3rd party candidate is not a "wasted vote".

Libertarians had a chance to make real inroads last year. Instead, Gary Johnson did a remarkable impression of every pothead you've ever met and did it on live TV. If I was TX Tiger, I'd say he was a plant by the elites to keep a 3rd party illegitimate.

How people supported Gary Johnson especially after the Aleppo incident scares me.

That sets aside his vice presidential candidate who did a remarkable impression of Hillary Clinton's campaign manager.

I'd just like to point out that we have a 3rd party President right now. I mean, we have to be honest here, he's every bit the 3rd party guy Johnson was.

And, exactly what people like me have said for 30 years would happen if a 3rd party guy got elected is happening.

BOTH parties are working against him.

I never joined any of them.

And the idea of political parties is just that-an idea. There is but one party, and then there is us. The sooner one learns this, the better off he or she is.

I didn't. Formally anyway. I need to be able to go to off year caucuses. I give money only to local candidates. Sometimes state candidates. Rarely national candidates. I did give to Trump this cycle. I split my ticket when warranted. Mostly on the local, or state level. Staying a registered Republican is somewhat necessary as I was on the board of a state wide and nation industry PAC. I do not give to the RNC, and will never give to the Republican House and Senate organizations, whose names I don't recall. I would vote Libertarian if there was a viable candidate. I vote my conscious, and speak my mind. Which does not endear me to several elected officials, but does endear me to other elected officials.

It's a game to a large extent. Especially the locals, where the donations of a certain level (usually $250 and above, sometimes even $100) hit the local newspaper, and I need to do this.

Being politically aware is beneficial financially. Living in Iowa, and being somewhat active has afforded me some memorable opportunities to meet several notable people. At my level, which is pretty low in the larger picture, I would never get this opportunity with national candidates in most other states. Played gold with some, smoked a cigar with Rudy, been invited and have gone to DC numerous times. Have access, more limited access the higher they get.

I'm addicted to politics, and always make sure to at least try to not let it overtake other areas in my life. I have to take breaks from time to time, becuase I'd lose my temper otherwise, and don't generally keep quiet.

Some of these people are good, decent people trying to make a difference. Some are fake, phony self serving pieces of crap.

I have no loyalty to party. I have what I think is a duty to try to move certain policy and world views forward. I also have a duty to move my financial agenda forward. Few of these people become close friends, although a couple have, and the friendship remains after they are out of office. Which is the real test.

"Finance is a gun. Politics is knowing when to pull the trigger." - Mario Puzo from one of the Godfather movies.

Welcome to the group. That isn't a belief....it's a fact.
