Question about attitudes towards law enforcement and Islam in the US

Why is it that some people in this country can't accept their own hypocrisy when it comes to criticizing and holding all police officers accountable for the wrongdoings of a small percentage of "bad" cops, but you're considered an agent of Islamaphobia* if you apply that same logic of accountability towards Islam and the small percentage of extremists out there terrorizing innocent people?

Even if only 10% of Muslims worldwide support acts of violence against civilian targets (which is probably a conservative figure), that's 160 million people.

A couple of years ago I hit a deer on the way to work.
I called the admin number at the police department and asked for an officer. Two local cops soon arrived in two different vehicles.
I am about as 'white bread' a white boy as you can find.
They were very distant and diffident. I just figured they didn't have a reason to arrest me, but wished they did.
I will say this: I wonder if there is not an attitude across law enforcement that now sees all citizens as someone to intimidate as a matter of course.

Please don't compare cops to terrorists.
Cops make mistakes but, they are not trying to advance a political and religious agenda through random acts of violence against innocent victims.

I'm not comparing the cops who make mistakes with islamic terrorists. I'm comparing the "extremists" of each grouping and how their actions dictate a certain perception of group as a whole in the US.

The difference comes in when Joe Citizen feels he has input in the everyday occurrences of their local PD vs accepting that they have no voice when it comes to ISIS.
