I would imagine the teachers at a school are aware of what the school administration does as far as internet censorship.

You would be surprised. Not saying that this particular school is like this, but some school administrators treat their teachers like peons and brandish their mighty Ph.D and Ed.S degrees to prove that they know best.

I bet they won't even let this kid look up info on his smart phone while at school.
Trying times. Poor kid.

You give public school teachers far too much credit. The teachers were probably unaware, but the administrators were. The political assignment was probably part of the required curriculum, so the teachers had to assign it, not knowing that the conservative view points on many hot button issues were inaccessible by the students. This is soft censorship, subtle, but potentially effective at indoctrinating ideals.

It's still just conjecture. There could be 100's of explanations of how/why this occurred, and intentional indoctrination by the teacher is one of the least likely to be true.

But, but, but these schools aren't brainwashing kids.
I read this story 2 days ago, too busy watching soccer to post it, figured a TRUE AMERICAN would post it.

What if he's poor and can't afford a smart phone or internet at home?

Because this never happens?
At least the kid didn't bite his sandwich into the shape of a pistol.

Sure, but where in my post did you think I implied it never happens? I simply said it was one of the least likely explanations among hundreds.

I went to a public library when I had to research info for school while I was outside of school. Do we still have those?

The last time I went to a public library we were still using the dewey decimal system so I don't know.

Wait what, we don't use the Dewey Decimal System anymore?
What is this world coming to!

Does anyone on the board understand the difference between a white list and a black list for web filters?
It hardly seems a scientific study of what was opened vs. blacked and why. Until the filter rules and exceptions are published, it is just right wing conspiracy mumbo jumbo.

Yes we do and from what I understand they have all the latest technology, like quill pens and parchment. Why do the taxpayers have to spend money on in-school computers if the kiddies can just hitch their mules to their wagons and ride to the local library?

It actually doesn't matter.
What is at issue is that whatever "web filter" was being used in that school's library apparently blocked many conservative or "non-liberal" websites while allowing access to parallel "liberal" or "progressive" websites.

I try to keep telling you progressives.
Change is bad.

I'm sorry. This is all sour grapes for me because I used to be heavily invested in whiteout companies and lost my shirt during the Great Whiteout Bust of 1998.
F@cking technology.
