Actually the Earth has been known to not be flat amongst most scientists and the educated since ~3 BC. But the ignorant peasants didn't believe them for nearly 2000 years. They laughed at the scientists, ridiculing them for proposing something so counter to common sense and what everyone knew to be true. sound familiar?

eta: He worked somewhere called the Institute of Policy Studies, which is a liberal think tank.

Sounds similar to assertions of diminishing total antarctic ice mass. Sounds similar to GISS data publication discrepancies 1999 vs 2012.

I didn't manufacture shite. The Catholic Church had a lot of interest in keeping people dumb and they succeeded for well over 1000 years.
