At the same time, I think the widow, who was obviously grieving, probably did react negatively, but I also don't think Trump intended for it to come off that way; it's just one of those situations that's delicate, and difficult for anyone to find the best words, and it's obviously not one of Trump's strengths anyways.
I think the congresswoman and Trump need to move on.

A huge mistake on whomever set up the call in not knowing that this was a particularly bad time to call. Should have held off knowing (they should know this) that the widow was receiving the casket at the airport. Emotions are high as it is at that point, especially with the news the day before. In any case you can never truly expect the next of kin to be alone when you make the call.

The deceased was a graduate of a youth leadership program sponsored by the Congresswoman. That's how she knew him. You can question her motives and actions, but she didn't just latch on to this situation. There was a prior relationship with the family.
