Kelly said not to call because of the difficulty of the situation. Not because it was insensitive.
He confirmed that previous Presidents have called.
Kelly also confirmed that the President’s use of “he knew what he signed up for” is correct. As every service member takes an oath to protect and defend the United States of America.
