Completely right about Sessions. Sessions shouldn't have taken the job if he thought there were major matters that he would need to recuse himself from.

quote:
“When they say he endorsed me, I went to Alabama,” Trump said about the endorsement. “I had 40,000 people. He was a senator from Alabama. I won the state by a lot, massive numbers. A lot of the states I won by massive numbers. But he was a senator, he looks at 40,000 people and he probably says, ’What do I have to lose?’ And he endorsed me. So it’s not like a great loyal thing about the endorsement."
Good Lord what an a-hole. Loyalty with Trump is a one way street.

He may be right about Sessions but he should handle it privately face to face.

I mean, he's not right about Sessions though.
Accepting for a moment that he didn't know of the recusal ahead of time (which is very likely false), Sessions' contribution to the Trump philosophy (nationalism, populist bent) that ultimately won Trump the election can't be overstated.
It's just completely absurd to act like Sessions was a hanger-on to Trump's popularity when Trump's own words and actions totally undermine that position.
I say all that as someone who would like to see Sessions gone as AG.

It was a big deal when Sessions came out publicly to support Trump. He was the first current Senator to do so.

In an email in response to a request from The Washington Post, Bannon described Sessions as “the clearinghouse for policy and philosophy” in Trump’s administration, saying he and the senator are at the center of Trump’s “pro-America movement” and the global nationalist phenomenon.
“In America and Europe, working people are reasserting their right to control their own destinies,” Bannon wrote. “Jeff Sessions has been at the forefront of this movement for years, developing populist nation-state policies that are supported by the vast and overwhelming majority of Americans, but are poorly understood by cosmopolitan elites in the media that live in a handful of our larger cities.”
He continued: “Throughout the campaign, Sessions has been the fiercest, most dedicated, and most loyal promoter in Congress of Trump’s agenda, and has played a critical role as the clearinghouse for policy and philosophy to undergird the implementation of that agenda. What we are witnessing now is the birth of a new political order, and the more frantic a handful of media elites become, the more powerful that new political order becomes itself.”

I could be misremembering, but didn't Sessions give Trump his first endorsement from a sitting legislator or governor?

Yes and other than Pence he's been the most ardent supporter of Trump's agenda from day 1.

This is all still true even if Sessions gets fired. The only problem is Sessions made a possibly fatal error in recusing himself.

I don't have to support Sessions to see a major problem with the way Trump has treated him over the past week.

Trump is a guilty bitch.

and none of that matters if you aren't willing to do your job. First, most ardent, nationalist, whatever... Sessions is responsible for prosecuting crimes as the AG. The highest profile criminal is HRC and company. Hands down, not up for debate. But noooo... let's focus on the subjugated black guy with a dime bag of weed in his pocket.
Sessions, you're fired. Signed, American Patriots

I'm pretty sure it was Trump who said after inauguration that he wasn't planning on going after Hillary.
You must think that Sessions is a closet Hillary supporter who is holding back a slam dunk case he could bring against her if he only wanted too.
It's a little scary how fast Trumpkins will fully turn on someone they once loved if their dear leader tells them too.

Not saying I like Sessions, but he had to recuse himself. Independence is paramount for prosecution. He's responsible for prosecuting / not prosecuting crimes that don't provide a conflict of interest.

I don't like Sessions, but it's amazing watching Trump slam him in public view. If you don't act the way he wants you to, he tears you apart.
Sessions helped Trump get elected!

No he didn't.
He should have told them to get bent because there was no conflict of interest because the whole Russian collusion story is bull shite.

It's amazing that Trump and his supporters don't see this. Shady mofos.
And for the record, screw Sessions. Good riddance. Hopefully I can say that later part of Trump in 2020.

quote:Not the ones the president picks and chooses. Sessions sucks, but he acted lawfully as he had no real choice but to recuse himself from an investigation into a campaign that he was a major part of. And I'm not sure what Trump thinks would be different if Sessions hadn't recused himself. Well.. Maybe one thing. Too bad Sessions did the appropriate thing. I love every bit of this shite show.
