Gotta keep this part of law -- agreed? Also, like the portion of the law that requires losers who don't carry insurance to pay tax penalty to cover the cost burden on the rest of us when they walk into a charity clinic.

In terms of political expediency, yes.

I haven't been to a doctor in over half a decade, I'll gladly take less on my tax returns rather than paying exorbitant sums for policies I don't need.

Your parents have failed you if they leave you on their insurance until 26.
The day I graduated from college in December I had to go get a six month policy since the job I accepted didn't have a start date until August.
I worked until then and most of my money paid my car insurance, car note and health insurance.

I don't know. I think it should be case by case. If someone had insurance and was dropped because of high risk, then they should be covered. But if they never had ins. and get sick and want to be covered then no.
You don't wreck a car and then try to get ins.

So you like the idea of people having no insurance, having something catastrophic, like cancer, heart disease, limb cut off, and being able to go obtain insurance after the face and insurance pays for it?

The 26 part is retarded

Why not 25? Why not 30?

Frankly there should be no age floor other than being a legal adult or any cap.

If mom and dad want to pay your premium why should anyone care?

Well they don't have to pay for it up to 26, some might not be able to afford their children's after that.

Also why 26? I dunno, humans make limits and lines. Why 60 MPH on the highway why not 52? It's the number someone choice and kinda irrelevant question.

The POS law is (soon to be - was!) 20,000 pages. It is statistically impossible that a person could disagree with 100% of all the details.

think i read some points somewhere that yes the new changes would be there in part. as long as you have continual coverage yes. but any lapse in coverage would have an 18-24 period where the policy would be more expensive then everyone else at you age group

some mechanism would be in place to prevent you from just buying coverage when you need it then dropping it....

No. Get rid of it all, start over, and do better this time.

Agreed. High risk pools at the state level weren't all that much more expensive than individual policies for the healthy are now.

When the insurance companies get to decide who lives and who dies, I want every Republican voter to say, "That's how it should be."

Aren't you guys all about removing choice from the people? Why do you care who makes the choice?

Gosh, you're saying a kick out of the nest is a kick out of the nest? Ouch. No million or two to jump start a business or some such?
