quote: As Muslims throughout the United States and around the world celebrate Eid-al-Fitr, Michelle and I extend our warmest wishes to them and their families. This last month has been a time of fasting, reflection, spiritual renewal, and service to the less fortunate. While Eid marks the completion of Ramadan, it also celebrates the common values that unite us in our humanity and reinforces the obligations that people of all faiths have to each other, especially those impacted by poverty, conflict, and disease. In the United States, Eid also reminds us of the many achievements and contributions of Muslim Americans to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy. That is why we stand with people of all faiths, here at home and around the world, to protect and advance their rights to prosper, and we welcome their commitment to giving back to their communities. On behalf of the Administration, we wish Muslims in the United States and around the world a blessed and joyous celebration. Eid Mubarak.
That statement pretty much proves to me that he is Muslim

It's not the fact the he is promoting a different religion, which staunch liberals seem to be so against promoting religion anyways.
This a direct, promotion of a religion that, their mantra, is to make this world their own religion, at the expense and death of all who do not agree.
If a Christian speaks out, in our country, they are chastised, ridiculed, and called bigots.
They say they will kill us, and they are getting cheers, and need tolerance.
Why is their religion being tolerated, and not ours.
You tell Me?

What's funny is that if we had a Christian president praising Christians most of you would be all for it. I don't see anything wrong with what he said at all
Posted on 7/30/14 at 5:50 am to USMCTiger03
I'm not sure what he is referring to. I can't think of one single muslim in our history that stands out for any reason.
Posted on 7/30/14 at 5:51 am to Tiger1242
Did you not read my post where I said I would be fine if he was promoting different religions?

It's a political throw away line that any political speaking to any minority group would give a derivative of.
The response is over the top. It's not as if he made a statement of support for Hamas or called for global jihad.

I don't give two sick rat's asses about "them" or "that".
I just think a platitudinous statement from a POTUS is just hot air and horseshite.
There is nothing "awesome" in this verbiage. Nor is there anything nefarious in it. This thread is much sound and fury signifying nothing based upon a nothing sentiment.
Other Presidents have said much the same.
The very fact that there is a "group" that is living peacefully and LEGALLY within the U.S. makes them part of the "fabric". To say what this disingenuous, dishonest asshat did is just....nothing.
I just find the statement innocuous.

I guess we are trying to be nice to Muslims in order to keep out jihad and terror?

Just more excuse making bs

I swear, it's like common sense goes out the damn window (on both sides) when Obama opens his mouth.
Throw-away line. Not news at all. And that's coming from someone who doesn't support Obama at all.

Agreed. I feel kinda dirty posting the defense
But, I just do not get the outrage over a politician saying "blah..blah...good contribution...blah".
it is silliness
Posted on 7/30/14 at 6:11 am to USMCTiger03
Has the dude ever said anything this lengthy and pleasant about Christmas? Easter? Chanukah? Passover?
Posted on 7/30/14 at 6:12 am to TbirdSpur2010
Some folks just look for any reason to be angry and/or outraged.

So you do not think Muslim American condominiums to society? One of my student's father owns 5 KFCs. He is a" job creator." Is he not part of the fabric of America simply because he is Muslim?

You're correct anyway. This isn't an issue worth getting upset over and I see nothing wrong with it as well.
