I am no fan of Obama, but I tend to agree with BHP on this. It does seem to be a lot of fluff, saying almost nothing

Message on the Observance of Ramadan
November 15, 2001George W. Bush
2001:

I extend warm greetings to Muslims throughout the United States and around the world. The Islam that we know is a faith devoted to the worship of one God, as revealed through The Holy Qu'ran. It teaches the value and importance of charity, mercy, and peace. And it is one of the fastest growing religions in America, with millions of American believers today.

The American Muslim community is as varied as the many Muslim communities across the world. Muslims from diverse backgrounds pray together in mosques all across our great land. And American Muslims serve in every walk of life, including our armed forces.

The Holy Qu'ran says: "Piety does not lie in turning your face to the East or West. Piety lies in believing in God." (2:177). Americans now have turned to acts of charity, sending relief to the Afghan people, who have suffered for so many years. America is proud to play a leading role in the humanitarian relief efforts in Afghanistan, through airdrops and truck convoys of food, medicine, and other much-needed supplies. And today we are committed to working for the long-term reconstruction of that troubled land.

We send our sincerest wishes to Muslims in America and around the world for health, prosperity, and happiness during Ramadan and throughout the coming year.

Oh, boy.

the "praises the Pope" was the title of the article. The breakfast (longer than a speech and INCLUDES one) includes a lot of christian leaders of all faiths.

I'm not asking you to like the dude. Just some perspective on this NOTHINGNESS of a platitude.

I've been up all night, as usual. Too much workplace hedonism has done a number on my nerves. Don't mind me

No. It is not a "he did it before. Therefore, it is okay now" thing.

It is demonstrating that these dishonest, disingenuous asshats say this kinda superfluous bullshite all the time. It means nothing.

But, Confirmation Bias tends to have us read a statement that aligns with our ideas and we tend to exaggerate its meaningfulness.

It is very human and common to do that. I'm only pointing that out.

I believe very little of the public pronouncements these politicians make. I have no reason to believe this is suddenly some great parting of the curtains to reveal his honesty, now. It is platitude from a dishonest jackass. W's example was EXACTLY the same. the next POTUS will spew meaningless bullshite like this, too.

I understand what you're saying BHP.

However, the problem rests in overall context of BHO's messaging. This is the very same fellow who contends "I didn't build" my own business. Now he thanks Muslims for "building the very fabric of our nation"?

IMO, that doesn't wash.

What's funny is that if we had a Christian president praising Christians most of you would be all for it.
#1 because Christianity did actually build the very fabric of our nation. #2 What's even funnier (and pathetic) is how leftists hate the promotion of Christianity from a state office but accept promoting Islam.

Meh. I don't have a huge problem with this. Politicians are notorious suck ups. This is no different.

CONTRIBUTING TO...

He is an a-hole. But, he did NOT say 'they' built it.

He is saying they have, and are, "contributing TO the building.."

Very different

I long for the day when the American president doesn't pander to any religion.
