Why does this statement offend you? Do you not agree that the media focuses entirely too much on the sensational?

"Child gets bit on hand while playing with neighbors dog" vs. "BREAKING: Dog attacks child, possible pit bull!!!"

Stop the hypersensitivity, it helps no one.

"Even if they are true"???
always wanting to cover scandals

always wanting to cover scandals

What I interpret that as is exclusively covering scandals. I dont think he means to turn a blind eye to scandal, but it should not be the only thing that is covered in the news cycle.

Good NEWS is important too, very important. False news is a lie..... Immoral.

Maybe he should look in the mirror and go back and read the book of Mathew. Then read it again until he understands Jesus' message.

I think it's pretty obvious why a pope stepped down for the first time in 600 years.

The globalist, socialist pope. Is there a piece of left wing doctrine that he doesn't advocate?

I agree. I understood the forgiveness thing when that " news" broke. It really wasn't anything new. Murderers can be forgiven just like everyone else.

I interpreted it differently. If you read my posts on page 2 of this thread you'll see how I interpreted it.

I agree that sensationalism journalism and mudslinging is out of hand. Totally. But that's not what I think fake news is at this moment.

The left has twisted so much around lately that fake news can be 3 different things:
1) Real relevant topics that the media declares fake thus is suppressing because it doesn't serve them well
2) just flat out made up news like trump is a nazi
3) real truth that is irrelevant and slanderous like so and cheated on his wife 20 years ago so he's not fit to be a cabinet member (not relevant and only a hurtful smear tactic)

Thus fake news started with the podesta emails which started this pedophelia thing, so I took it to mean the Pope was saying the media should continue to silence the truth seekers.

Maybe I misinterpreted. I've been really really disturbed by the more and more circumstantial evidence coming out but being silenced by google and Reddit.

I'm not a conspiracy freak. I don't think sandy hook and the Boston marathon were fake. But I do think this pedo thing should be investigated.

Lastly, I admit that because I'm consumed by this pedo stuff and will be until it's investigated, I may have misinterpreted the Pope's opinion on fake news. He may have very well been referring to real truth that is irrelevant and slanderous i.e. Gossip

"Why are you reading HuffPo?"

Because someone linked started a thread about that snowflake in the psych ward and I honestly didn't believe it was a true story. I really thought it was a spoof, so I clicked on the link. The story was in huff post and the story beneath it was quoting the Pope.

Anyway, I may have misinterpreted his quote. Fake news has really muddied the waters. I don't like irrelevant mud slinging and agree it has to stop.

I still identify myself as Catholic. I haven't attended a Catholic Mass in years. He's a human though, and if I'm not perfect, I can't expect him to be perfect. But I'm not attending Catholic Masses either. When I remember, I get on my knees and pray.

I hate to break it to the Catholics in the discussion and others who might admire him: His "God" is not the father in the New Testament, or the Lord Thy God of the Old Testament - It's Karl Marx. His faith isn't Roman Catholicism - it's Marxism/Leninism.

It's like the KGB placed him all those years ago and finally got a Pope - too late to help the USSR, but in place to do the global progressive movement a lot of good.

Makes me sad.

The fact that that this guy is the Pope shows that God doesn't pick the Pope.

This guy is horrible.

He is an SJW.

He is always on the wrong side of everything.

The Pope is still a man. Men can be wrong. Disagreeing with a man is not a sin. Popes led the Crusades, the Inquisition, and I'm sure many other things that God would never have told them to do. The Pope is not Jesus, he is not God on Earth

And I'm sure God doesn't give a single frick about fake news stories on facebook
