Planned Parenthood: "We do not offer prenatal care, only abortions"

92 out of 97 PP affiliated clinics do not offer prenatal care and admitted the name "Planned Parenthood" is deceiving. So, tell me why are they receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funding?

They also do not perform mammograms and provide more abortions than pap smears.
Most of PPs work deals with STD screening and sexual education, which there are clearly many other places that could absorb those services.
If PP was truly "all about the women", they would stop providing abortion or work with Congress to phase funding to other providers who do not perform abortions while women would not see any reduction in access. But that's obviously not what PP is about.

There are a lot of PP locations that don't perform abortions. Hell, the one in downtown fricking Atlanta doesn't perform them. They do STD testing and birth control, things like that.

yeah i never understood why PP didn't just stop doing abortions and let other providers handle it
if their claim of abortion being some little side thing they do rarely is true, then it should be easy

It makes no difference.
The religious right would have zero problem with Planned parenthood if they did NOT provide abortions.
Because money is fungible they can not comply with the law that clearly does not allow tax dollar support of abortions.

You would think abortion would be a fairly bi-partisan issue by now.... because most people that would have an abortion would likely spawn more democrat votes. Damned Christians and their morals. Take one for the team, Christians! O.o

I think there should be free government paid abortion and birth control on every corner. I am also for free bonuses for sterilization.

let me be clear. i do believe that abortion is a very small chunk of their services, which makes the resistance even more irrational. if this wasn't the huge progressive symbol of abortion, i guarantee you they would have stopped decades ago, like every other governmental leach program when faced with unpopular services

It's weird that a handful of states have launched investigations into PP and found no wrongdoing every time, but these "undercover" investigations by pro-life groups continually find wrongdoing after wrongdoing.

And there are literally thousands of locations that perform these services, and also perform prenatal care services, that do not perform abortions at any of their affiliates.
So again, why should PP still receive taxpayer funding and not have the funding diverted to the multitude of other clinics that don't murder for hire?
