He said why he did. It's his life story and he wanted to control the narrative of it. He got out in front of it before some prying journalist outted him.
What's to control? He's gay and that's it. He outed himself to his teammates so it wasn't exactly some kind of secret. I guarantee you that all of the people who are criticizing him for how he handled the situation would be virtually silent if he was "outed". That would simply show that he wanted it to be about his skill set and not about his sexuality. It just doesn't fit into the "loud and proud" narrative that the gay community wanted. Michael Sam didn't want to control his story, the gay community wanted to.

It's in the article..... click the link. I didn't put it there to show proof that this was written.

What I love about the OP is that it seems to be premised in the false idea that heterosexuals aren't open about their heterosexuality.

And you are playing right into it rather than having a discussion that leads to an answer
I don't know. I don't really have a problem with his overall point. My issue is he is asking questions within the article in a rhetorical way and the answer to those questions can be easily found.

THe article doesn't cite a source.
It would appear to be the only article on the entire internets tube to claim it.

That's because heterosexuality is normal. Homosexuality is abnormal.

Michael Sam, apparently, ‘came out’ to his teammates a year ago. By all accounts, they took it well, nobody really cared, and everything continued on as normal.

Cashing in? Just like Sam? How was she demonized? She was made fun of and ridiculed for asking for the country to pay for her birth control. And paid well for it. Don't get in the arena if you don't want to be attacked.

That's what usually happens when no one voices a bigoted opinion in response to a coming out.

Well, I guess if they are defending their sexuality, but that is a different entity entirely.
As for your claims that heterosexual couples kissing on television is gross, you can protest the events if you want.

so we should compare all biological defects in the same respect as normalcy in that area? is that your suggestion?
because that's not going to work

I'm not sure what biological defects you're talking about. But don't worry - I won't hold them against you.

Rare does not equal abnormal.

she wanted federal law to force employers to pay for birth control, and have the country subsidize this policy preference
