People always overestimate blood loss. Which is understandable since seeing blood can be traumatic.

But you have 4.5 to 5.5 liters of blood total in the body. So I doubt he lost "liters" through his nose and mouth. That would be half his total volume.

Blood thinners and ruptured esophageal varices or EBOLA.

Had a dear friend die like that. Had a peptic ulcer in the worst place and didn't take it seriously. Bled out in his sleep. Drowned in his own blood.
Or...zombie plague.

Sounds like an alcoholic who ruptured his esophageal varices.

I don’t mean to blow anything off here, but almost 8 billion people in the world, you figure there’s gonna probably be some fricked up deaths throughout that.

My dad had a Mallory-Weiss tear and blood poured out of him. He was also on coumadin. He survived and lived about 8 more years to 96-1/2 years old. This could be anything.

And then a stewardess probably made him sit up and gave him water.

It was brutal. His mom found him in bed covered in it. He lost the race to the hospital.
He was my last oldest friend. Time is still champion. Take care of your health best you can and sometimes...the damn doctors are right.

But this case does beg the question...what if it was a contagion? Seems we will be doomed
