If Wikileaks says "may" and Russian state media republishes it then it in fact was a violation!

This should be pretty easy to verify

Nope. But I never expected you to know these complex international issues.

The only law that matters is the law that someone can enforce. International law

Article 9. The host nation at any time and for any reason can declare a particular member of the diplomatic staff to be persona non grata. The sending state must recall this person within a reasonable period of time, or otherwise this person may lose their diplomatic immunity. A person so declared is considered unacceptable and is usually recalled to his or her home nation. If not recalled, the receiving State "may refuse to recognize the person concerned as a member of the mission". It is also used to expel diplomats suspected of espionage (described as "activities incompatible with diplomatic status") or any overt criminal act such as drug trafficking. The declaration may also be a symbolic indication of displeasure. So-called "tit for tat" exchanges have occurred, notably during the Cold War. A notable occurrence was an exchange between the United States and Ecuador in 2011. The Ecuadorian government expelled the United States ambassador, as a result of diplomatic cables leaking (WikiLeaks). The United States responded by expelling the Ecuadorian ambassador.

This board loves Russia so much.
I sure miss the 80's.

Sounds like it's perfectly in compliance with the treaty.

So Obamas russia reset was a total fail?

So weird. Spent 8 years insulting obama by calling him a communist then do a quick 180 and start sucking off a self proclaimed one. What a wacky world.

Article 29. Diplomats must not be liable to any form of arrest or detention. They are immune from civil or criminal prosecution, though the sending country may waive this right under Article 32. Under Article 34, they are exempt from most taxes, and under Article 36 they are exempt from most customs duties.
Don't know if it still applies after they are declared persona non grata. I would love to see the Russians try and test that though. I want them to make Obama force his hand and embarrass him even further by not leaving.
Something tells me though that Putin is smarter than that. He will recall them and just tell them to keep their bags packed as y'all will be headed back to your duty stations on Jan. 21.

So weird. Obama spent 8 years letting russia do whatever it wanted.
The dems get their asses kicked in the elections and suddenly obama is anti russia.

Who's sucking off putin? That's just an imbecilic response.
How do you not see that Obama is making the US look like absolute retards right now? Wah wah the Russians did, oh my God, wait for it, what idiotic moron petty criminals do essentially. They sent shitty phishing emails that my grandma who's 85 knows to just delete and because hildog and podesta are retards, they fell for it. Dude that happens to every single fricking person in the world now.
BTW, that guy in the WH we were insulting, actually sent money to Israel to interfere with their election and try to get rid of bibi. So what's the wacky part?

You miss Russia and a large portion of Eastern Europe, the Stans, and the Caucasus states being ruled by Communist despots and the world resting on the brink of nuclear armageddon? You prefer that world to one with a nationalist, regional Russian power that conservatives seek mutual cooperation with?
I guess makes sense from a leftist perspective.

Do what now?
I think some of you baws need to leave the trailer park, head down to the library, get on this fancy thing called the Interweb, and brush up on your current affairs. You might be surprised to learn that Russia is no longer a communist country. In fact, communist Russia has been dead longer than most of this board's members have been alive.
Communism is to Russia what success is to Georgia football, a fading memory.
