Department of Justice had been eavesdropping on the conversation. And one of the officials responsible for ordering the eavesdropping was none other than Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, who forced President Trump to fire her when she defied her duty to enforce his executive order on immigration, however, controversial.

The fourth and most worrying explanation is that the government was not merely monitoring the communications of Russian diplomats, but of the Trump transition team itself. The fact that the contents of Flynn’s phone conversation — highly sensitive intelligence — were leaked to the media suggests that someone with access to that information also has a political axe to grind.

For the mods on the PT. I see some of the left is trying to get this thread wacked. This is the link to where the Obama Admin changed the rules in his last month!

quote:

The National Security Agency is now able to share raw surveillance data with all 16 of the United States government's intelligence groups, including the Central Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security and Drug Enforcement Administration. These agencies are able to submit requests for raw data pertaining to specific cases, and the NSA will approve or deny each request based on its legitimacy and whether granting access would put large amounts of private citizens' information at risk.

quote:

Attorney General Loretta Lynch signed the new rules on January 3rd, after Director of National Intelligence James Clapper approved them in December. President Barack Obama's administration passed the changes in its final days in the White House -- President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20th.

The FBI and other agencies use the systems laid out by the FISA Amendments Act and Executive Order 12333 in different ways, as noted by The New York Times. The warrantless surveillance program enabled by FISA allows FBI agents to search that program's database when investigating ordinary criminal cases.

Link?

I'd like to know if there is any precedent for an outgoing administration to be spying on the incoming adminstration.

If someone was spying on flynn then that is a problem in and of itself. He was a civilian at that point.

The same can be said of much of the WikiLeaks documents. The truth is the truth, no matter the political ramifications.

I guess the lesson here is act as if someone's always listening. Don't be stupid, and don't lie.

The Doj has been investigating the Trump team since July this past summer when internals revealed Russian activity into the election.

dont you remember Democrats freaking out on Comey in December, this was why, Comey didnt publicly reveal this investigation but did his renewing of Hilary's emails.

oh Trumpkins, so naive.

The NSA monitors all foreign phone calls no matter who you are. They obviously turned over transcripts of intercepts to the Fbi.

The same rag that called the Flynn situation "fake news" and a "nothing burger" only hours ago. That's real fake news.

Hope to hell that there is not any truth to this. Flynn lied and needed the boot, but how did the media get that?

So if the discussion was leaked to to the media, what was it about?

I can't imagine incriminating information would be withheld given what the dems and media were put through during the campaign, taking the giant leap that OP is even close to true.

Is there more than one participant in a typical telephone conversation...hmmm? Would there be fewer legal hurtles to collecting on one side in this case than the other, while having the same effect?

I wonder if both parties likely knew that and proceeded anyway...

I wonder what that might mean.

Jesus. No wonder no one really believes in the people.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit it Flynn didn't hear, "All calls are recorded" as soon as he dialed the embassy.

Not to mention the 3 second beep to remind him.
