SpidermanTUba donates to the Ronald McDonald house
Those people are doing Yeomans duty. My daughter was born with some minor complications that required us to stay in Nuremberg for a week on 2 separate occasions and in Atlanta 2 times. I have never been treated with more kindness than the people at the RM House treated us. When I was a young man I volunteered to work at the house in Atlanta (doing electrical work) and was impressed with the operation even at 19...so much so that I almost always chunk my change in the box at Mickey D's (although with debit cards that doesn't happen so often anymore). After receiving assistance from Ronald McDonald charities I appreciate them even more....my wife and I go to the one in Nuremberg twice a year and cook breakfast for everyone staying there....it is just about the most rewarding experience I have had with my clothes on. We have helped with dinner at the one in Atlanta a couple of times also....just a great experience all the way around. If you haven't had a chance to do so and have an afternoon or morning free give it a try....I will bet even the hardest among you will become addicted to helping these families in need...and not through any wrong doing on their part for the most part.

Conservatives tend to give more to religious 'charities', meaning that money that goes to brainwashing young children to believe a particular religion, or buying gold to decorate a Catholic Church with or to buy a Priest's or preacher's Cadillac - counts the same as money that goes to feed poor people or fund cancer research. And you can bet the house that the Brook's study doesn't count donations to buy birth control for poor women as charity - but a tithe to a church that wind's up paying for the minister's wife's boob job does!

Or maybe it's because they spend too much on outside consultants.
Because private companies never hire private consultants to help them trim waste, right?

Doesn't have to. Here's your quote:

Again, you probably don't want to bring up overhead and marketing into a debate about charitable giving.

Hey, it was just a suggestion on why they might be strapped for resources, just like yours. At least mine was plausible.

Sorry. Where do I use the word "ALL" ?
I'm having trouble finding it.
I am fairly certain that preachers need to eat, though, so if you tithe to a Church part of what you're paying for is someone to teach you how to keep from going to Hell - that's paying for a personal service - not donating to charity.
Speaking of Hell - that's the entire reason conservative religionists donate to begin with. If they don't, they burn in Hell. Paying to stay out of Hell is a selfless act? Or do they not actually believe they'll go to Hell?

While this old chestnut has obviously been flawed since the first time it appeared, probably a hundred years ago, I have always wondered why it was so important to conservatives, especially middle class conservatives. You should give to charity because you want to help....and can. If you have the means it is much easier to give. If you don't have the means you can have all the desire in the world and it wouldn't do you any good....

I was making a joke, but in all seriousness, I absolutely donate to and appreciate the Ronald McDonald house charity.

I don't see why it matters either way. Obviously there's different types of charities and cultural influences at play.
It's impossible to accurately get such data without relying on the honor system.

And, IF it is fact (and, I have no knowledge of it either way)...but, IF it is FACT...you wonder why conservatives find facts important?
I'm a pro choice atheist...but, I do not wonder why devout Christians oppose abortion. It is their belief.
