It's not irrelevant. If it doesn't make sense for you to have insurance, don't buy it.

This isn't a legit comparison because you can't simply "not buy it." If you don't buy it then you get taxed for not buying it.

Not any more. Trump EO'd that like his second day in office.

You would be foolish not to adhere to the penalty until this is actually repealed. It would be a simple thing for the government to enact penalties for not paying the fee later down the line.

That's BamaAtl's premise... there is simply nothing whatsoever wrong with Obamacare. If your plan is too high or deductibles are too high, you need to shop for a different plan. Or republican sabotage. Never.. "you know, maybe there is something to all these rising premiums and/or skyrocketing deductibles". But when you mention THOSE things, all you hear is "that's just anecdotal evidence/what plan did you have before/shop around.". Laughable, if you ask me.

Did you offer insurance pre-ACA?

Yes, and it was way cheaper, better and I had a significantly higher percentage of my employees participating.

At least at my company, Obamacare has resulted in fewer people insured.

What changes to the ACA do you think would improve your situation?

This won't make you feel better, but your premiums have actually gone up over 46% over two years.

100 x 1.18 = 118
118 x 1.24 = 146.3

You sure ask a lot of questions to people, but never truly answer theirs to you. I'll try again:

What part of the ACA leads you to think this a viable option?

The ones that change it into "having never been enacted".

She has no interest in answering questions. Just defending Obamacare at all costs... and pointing out that your problems with Obamacare are your fault.

too bad it is illegal for people to procure medical services and pay cash. You can buy a lot of care with the same amount of cash that insurance costs these days. Providers can provide better, faster care at a much lower cost when done with cash transactions, too. Hrm....I may be seeing a common theme here.

Well let's see here, politicians, insurance companies, lobbyists, I think we have a starting point.

And it's probably cheaper to not buy it than the tax for not buying it.

I've just taken a liking to make this as clear somewhere near as frequently as she makes her defense of Obamacare.

And the overall quality of the plan has significantly decreased. Higher deductibles.

Is this what we call "fixing health care"?

Many of my employees don't buy our healthcare because it is too expensive and I subsidize the cost.

It isn't even arguable that healthcare is significantly worse since Obamacare. Who can even defend this horseshite?

Like the right has told the poor for so long...maybe you should just pick up another job? Maybe a third job? Work some overtime?

My independently purchased Blue Cross Blue Shield policy cost my family $400/month before Obama took office. The exact same policy now costs $1,700/month. I left the family business and went and got an office job. I work strictly for the insurance they provide.

Not to rub salt in the would man, but if those percentages are accurate, it's actually more than just a 42% increase in two years.

If you had an 18% increase one year, then an additional 24% increase the following year, by my calculations, you're actually looking at over a 46% increase in two years.

But this only furthers your point that health insurance premiums are out of control. Both Dems and Repubs know it, but they are either unwilling or unable to stop it. So who suffers in the end? Not those law makers with their own cushy and free health care plans. Nope, not them. We suffer. And it's absolutely a load of bullshite.

So if it increases 18 percent last year and 24% of that this year, hate to break your heart, but that's a 46% overall increase.

Oh, and fake news

I'll take paying the penalty in addition to my tax liability, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying insurance.
