It seems to me that the families are making the fact that Trump called public, not Trump. So that's some nonsense.
I say again. If one of my boys would have been KIA when Obama was President and he would have called me to offer condolences, I would have been courtaeous and appreciated the sentiment irrespective of politics, my grief wouldn't allow me to discuss such a private moment publicly, it would be between me and their mother and POTUS. These people are an embarrassment to gold star families , using their children's deaths for political benefit.

It is a shame everyone in trumps administration must lie. Most of the poor people who enlist these days is because they have no where else to go. Life for the poor and ghetto youth is so bad they look for a way out. Trump wants to get rid of health care.
