I didn't even attend her wedding.

I refused to. Whole family went into a hissy. She was a phony. I knew it and so did my younger sister. My dad refused to accept the truth and when approached he just would say to be respectful and loving. I told him I'm tired of passing a passive eye of such lies.

I like Dusty. He was not perfect, but his mistake was having those two nephews of mine. Any dumb arse who goes and gets a girl pregnant deserves a lot of what he receives, but until they experience it they can't understand it until it happens.

His life became taters as he attempted to find work and make ends meet. With our child support system he could get laid off and he STILL had to provide the same amount every month. If he didn't he would be hunted down and possibly thrown in jail. It was a mess brother. Pissed me off to no end.

I'm conservative till I die. Hate the system. I've seen it's abuse first-hand and the lives it affects.

I know for a fact that if her husband ever lost his job and couldn't provide she knows how she can survive with the governments help. She even has the nerve to tell me she finds this guy she works with sexy as hell and hints that she would freak him. No shame. None whatsoever. No fear of recourse and no fear of losing.

I was married once and luckily never had to deal with this type life and divorced. I have had zero plans of marrying since. Enjoying my life on my family's large amount of property with an 11 acre lake, lots of woods, chickens, goats, fish, raise honey bees, and surviving.

I see what is coming in our country. It is a system that can't continue indefinitely and will collapse. Trump's budget proposals are an attempt to stop the coming crash. I don't like his foreign ramblings, but his domestic work outside legislation that is bogged down by the misfits in congress and the senate has been to the letter of his word in the campaign.

NAFTA will be renegotiated and if they don't like it I expect he will get out of it entirely just as he did with TPP.

Ummm....this is already a requirement. There are a few listed exceptions to the work requirement.

I'm not sure why you are getting downvotes for posting this. It's called the Able-bodied and without dependents (ABAWD) requirement and requires that anyone who is not determined to be disabled, incapacitated/unable to work, or caring for a child under 6, is required to work register and seek work employment in order to qualify for SNAP benefits.

Now, it's true that this ABAWD requirement was suspended for a time beginning in 2008/2009, after the market crash, due to high unemployment it has started being phased back in by the states. Kentucky for example reintroduced ABAWD requirements in 2016. I don't believe that every state has restarted ABAWD requirements but it is a federal requirement per the federal Food and Nutrition Services Agency (FNS) which oversees the SNAP program.

ETA: I will add that it is fairly easy to get around the ABAWD requirements but they are there.

Even if that is the case you can go about life and be self sustaining. Perfect example.
Oh contraire - That lady knows the value and dignity of hard work, unlike the unfortunate lazy and ignorant soul in my example, who wasn't born knowing nor every had the opportunity to learn that decisions they make can effect their lives positively, or that they even have the ability to change their situation if they choose to. That's not their fault - it's the fault of the collective for failing to properly enlighten them.

Then you have your enlightened moochers who are just lazy and don't want to work, but that's not their fault either. They were just born that way by chance.

Put yourself in their shoes, and when you see a lazy, good for nothing, ignorant moocher say to yourself "there but for the grace of God go I".

Then take pity on them and run right over and give them 10% to 39.6% of all your disposable income - depending on which tax bracket you fall under.

If it is "fairly easy" to get around the ABAWD requirements, then why do they even exist? The answer is, they were put in place in an attempt to quell the "make them go to work" calls BUT at the same time there were exceptions built into the program AND much of the ABAWD is left up to the States...

In other words, there really is not a requirement and SNAP is still being exploited.

Yeah, and I bet SSI only goes to people actually disabled

We've had two people in the last 10 years in my office claim permanent disability at different times... neither was disabled. They shopped around doctors until they found one to write the report.

Both white, middle-aged women in our office admin position. And I would love to kick them both in the face to this day. Hated them. I'm being a little dramatic for effect... but I really couldn't stand them.

Had a former co-worker pull a similar stunt. Quit his job to go on permanent disability because of "chronic" back issues. What did he do with his free time? Started and operated a fence company (while supposedly being incapable of sitting at a desk 3 days per week) for 5 years. The only reason he was caught is because a sibling ratted him out stemming from a inheritance dispute.

Agreed. That was simply outstanding. I love the line about respect being a two-way street and respecting the taxpayers and being compassionate to them as well as to those who receive the benefits of the taxes paid. Thanks so much for linking to it here.

You, and most responsible members of society, would be disgusted and appalled at the abuse of disability. What is supposed to be a help for genuinely disabled people who can't work has become the new welfare.
