It's just a word. Words cannot harm you. Just because someone doesn't like the connotation of a word doesn't mean other people should not be able to use it.

Is it really all that inexplicable when it's Media Matters?

I learned that from a queer.

What on earth? Homosexual is more or less the scientific, technical term. It is absolutely neutral.

It's interesting how the goal posts keep moving when referring to a different segment of the population, yet each new term used to refer that population inevitably becomes blacklisted because... well, it refers to those kind of people.
Take handicapped/special education students, for example. How many times have we remained these people? Once a term becomes acceptable it's like it becomes offensive to refer to them as such.

Buttressing their argument? A weekend piece in the Fashion and Style section of the New York Times entitled “The Decline and Fall of the ‘H’ Word.” In it, reporter Jeremy Peters likens the term to using “colored” to address black people and asserts that the word contains “the ring of disapproval and judgment.”
Welp, that's it. Sorry. Can't say Zach anymore.

I'm extremely offended by the use of "Zach". This is Zach...
He was a rare Liberian Retriever. He passed away a few months ago. You have dredged up old wounds. I demand reparations.

Someone should tell 'em to not be so butthurt about it, but that'd probably go over like a turd in a punch bowl.
